IDIOT PILOT ‘Strange We Should Meet Here’ Reprise (2005)

Idiot Pilot

This album is unlike nothing I have ever heard.

Strange electronic sounds, sombre vocals, depressing lyrics, this album has it all.

From sounding like New Order on the first couple of tracks, then The Smiths on several others!

There's not much guitar to find in any of the albums 14 tracks. Although, half way through, the buzzing guitar onslaught of the rather odd, 'The Voilent Tango', threatends to explode, before being reduced to a more sombre mood.

Many of the songs are what you might call, atmospheric, some are just downright miserable.

The more uptempo songs, are the one's that are the most interesting for me, 'Les Lumieres' could even get a spin a late night club, it's got a techno beat and some mumbled lyrics that might be quite nice to dance to after a few drinks!

With almost a hours worth of music on offer here, there is plenty to keep you occupied.

Variety is the name of the game, but to be honest, half way through, I'd had enough.

The vocals start to become not only tiresome, but annoying. The music starts to drift into oblivion....I had to press stop at track 8, enough was enough. Somebody must like this, I don't.

***** Out of this world | **** Pretty damn fine |
*** OK, approach with caution unless you are a fan |
** Instant bargain bin fodder | * Ugly. Just ugly
