HEDROOM ‘Hedroom’
(Crash Records HR001A) (2004)
Hedroom

The Spin Doctors were a good band, great guitarist, and a good frontman. I bought at least two of their albums but after the euphoria of their funk to rock had worn off the albums were offloaded at the nearest car-booter.

Hedroom are in that funk to rock groove, all popping bass, rap vocals (Parental Advisory, of course) and gutsy guitar. It's well produced and performed, and there's no doubt that the band kick proverbial ass.

However, you can't help thinking Spin Doctors (and Red Hot Chillis for that matter). In short, it ain't original, and it's unlikely to capture the imagination unless there's a Spin Doctors revival. In which case, Hedroom will be trendy and - at least - a tribute band to reckon with.
