THE GREAT KAT Wagner's War (Blood And Guts Music 2004)
If you think that it's the privilege of Hard Core bands to release
short-length albums, you are sadly mistaken. The Great Kat, the woman
who has released controversial albums, such as "Worship Me Or Die",
created a new opus called "Wagner's War". The album was inspired by
the events of September the 11th, and believe it or not, the female
shredder has declared her own war on terror!
Once again the six string female virtuoso covers great classic themes
like "The Ride Of The Valkyries" (Wagner), "Hungarian Rhapsody #2"
(Liszt) and Sarasate's "Zapateado". Kat displays her great technical
abilities with these three songs, but when it comes to her own three
compositions, things start to fall apart. I don't really believe that
with lyrics such as "Kick him in the face, Skin him alive, Disembowel
him and burn him to a crisp", she expects people to take her
seriously. On the other hand, I believe that by writing these exact
words I am actually helping her achieve exactly what she wants!
Even though the album contains seven songs, the average length of
every composition is 1:30 minutes long!
There is a very thin line between insanity and genius, and it's up to
you to decide on which side of the fence the Great Kat sits. For me
she is a very talented musician who simply enjoys taking the piss. I
think that it's a shame that such an artist will only be enjoyed by
sixteen-year-old boys!
