FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM Mourning Sun SPV (2005)
The band were very popular in the 1980’s when they rode the wave of goth bands that proved popular at that time like the Mission and the Sisters of Mercy.
I also seem to remember the band used to douse themselves in flour before a gig! Anyway this is the band’s (or more accurately Carl McCoy's) new album and the first for over five years.
Sadly try as I might I just couldn’t get into the music, specifically the vocals that sound like a melodic death metal grunter.
Every song sounds the same and although there are some interesting arrangements and swathes of keys/synths it all sounds very bland and lacking any musical spark.
If you are a fan doubtless you will enjoy this otherwise steer clear.
