Legendary vocalist gets better with age...
Live DVD recorded on December 13th 2002 in New York’s Roseland Ballroom
and boy does it ROCK! Ronnie Dio is joined by long-time cohort Jimmy Bain
(bass), ex-AC/DC/UFO drummer Simon Wright, Scott Warren on keyboards and
guitarist Doug Aldrich (now in Whitesnake). You’ve got the Rainbow classics,
‘Man On A Silver Mountain’ segued with ‘Long Live Rock ‘N’ Roll’, a touch of
Sabbath in ‘Heaven And Hell’ and of course a stack of Dio classics including
‘Holy Diver’, ‘Stand Up And Shout’ and ‘The Last In Line’. But it’s not all
nostalgia as new songs, ‘Killing The Dragon’ and the excellent ‘Push’, come
across nice and loud. Stars of the show are Dio, who seems to be loving
every minute of it and Aldrich, who switches with ease from metallic riffing
to effortless soloing.
Bonus material include an informative and enjoyable interview with Dio,
some rather corny backstage footage (meet the roadies, etc.) and the promo
video for ‘Push’, which features a cameo from Tenacious D (who recorded
their tongue-in-cheek tribute to Dio on there debut album released last
year). There is also a photo gallery of assorted fans photos.
Well worth your money and a must for Dio fans, he gets better with age!
