Another solo effort from former keyboard maestro with Brit proggers Caravan?
Well, hey, no in fact - couldn't be more different. This rather fine 10
tracks-worth on his own label is a 'sampling of the goods' by David
Sinclair, rock music writer and critic.
Unlike most music media pundits, he's bravely popped his head over the parapet and made a record of his own
which - mercifully - works. Sinclair has talent and savvy, reining in ego and enabling
friends and collaborators to share the driving duties to craft a
well-rounded, entertaining set of spiky indie rock which draws on the very
British sensibilities of Ray Davies and the like.
A good-natured 'live in the studio' vibe and witty use of effects are nudging me to catch Sinclair's
band when it gigs next - because if this anything to go by, I think I'd have fun.
