CRUSH 40 'Frontiers' (Frontiers 2003)

COMA STAR ‘Headroom Of Conscience’ (Locomotive Music 2003)

A Swiss and German band by origin who recorded this debut album in LA and they are billed as power trio. Definitely an album for fans of Nickleback, InMe and Puddle of Mudd, being made-up of intense lyrics and music combined.

Opener ‘Painkiller’ lays down some heavy riffs, very much in the style of Nickleback. ‘Suicide Man’ is U2 meets the riffs of Metallica - nice. Emmi’s vocals veer between Bono and Kurt Cobain, especially on the Nirvana flavoured ‘Don’t Fit’. Sabbath riffs back Emmi’s fine vocal performance on ‘Give Yourself Away’. Only slight drawback is the lack of variety on a few tracks, especially towards the end of the CD and there is no killer stand out track.

Very riff heavy and a quality slice of modern rock - give it a go.
