CAT STEVENS Majikat Eagle Records (2005)
Recorded on his ‘Earth Tour’ in 1976, mere years before he converted to
Islam and forsook the music business until last years’ comeback duet with
Ronan Keating on ‘Father & Son’.
The backing band includes seasoned drummer Gerry Conway (Fairport Convention/Steeleye Span). The first that hits you
about this CD is the excellent sound quality - Cat Stevens vocals are high
in the mix and you’d be hard pushed to know it was a live record until the
audience chips in at the start/end of each track.
All the famous tunes are here including ‘Father & Son’, ‘Wild World’ and a blissful ‘Moonshadow’.
Having never really heard much Cat Stevens before I thoroughly enjoyed this
CD and would certainly recommend to any fan of quality singer/songwriters.
