CADILLAC Wilder Than This (2006)
"Locomotive" was one of the best scuzz rock anthems from last year, but when you're releasing the 3rd single from your album, you know the best have been and gone. And so it is with "Wilder Than This", which was a splendid album track on "Magnetic City", but seems a little lost, out there on its own.
They still rock hard and this particular number is punkier than some of their other material, but you really need to hear some of their other material first, for they are a very good band. This is a bit too Foo Fighters gone Queens Of The Stone Age for me, which isn't a good thing in case you're wondering. Still got a great chorus mind and a lot better than most of the pap out there at present. Take a look and listen at the video and make up your own mind. The flip side is rather good, however, coming on like the bastard son of the Thirteenth Floor Elevators and Blue Cheer getting it on with The Strokes.
Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes did a bang up job on the album production, so it sounds great, and if I were you I'd grab the album, for it is a mighty fine beast.
