BROADCAST The Future Crayon Warp (2006)
Broadcast have been around since 1996 and have released 3 albums and numerous EPs and singles over the intervening years. The Future Crayon reflects on their first decade in the form of a compilation of their UK EPs plus a handful of tracks from various compilations down the years.
I have to be honest and say I know little or nothing about Broadcast and the PR flyer doesn't make me any the wiser. But allegedly, the listener can expect music from ‘the fringes of 60s psych to the playful world of European Library Music (?). Blending nursery rhyme pop with radiophonic arrangements, Broadcast transmit a beautiful music of the memory.'
And true enough there are destinct euro flavours - delicate synth rhythms, and soothing flowery vocals. There's 60s experimental pieces and then there's more ‘conventional' pop. But it's always gentle. In another generation, music to trip to.
