VARIOUS ‘Bonnaroo Music Festival’ (Sanctuary) (2003)

The second Bonnaroo festival that is like the UKs Glastonbury in the variety of line-up it attracts. This a double CD set with tracks from older acts like the Allman Brothers and the Dead, to jam festival favourites Widespread Panic and newer bands like the Flaming Lips and the Polyphonic Spree.

Highlights? Widespread Panic's Papa Johnny Road from their latest album Ball - a band built for the festival circuit. James Brown hammers out I Feel Good and the Flaming Lips A Spoonful Weighs A Ton is well worth a listen. Ben Harper's cover of Marvin Gaye's Sexual Healing gives the tune a real slowed down funky vibe.

An album to dip into as not all artists will please everybody, although there are some real gems on here.

***** Out of this world | **** Pretty damn fine |
*** OK, approach with caution unless you are a fan |
** Instant bargain bin fodder | * Ugly. Just ugly
