BLONDIE The Curse Of Blondie Sanctuary 06076-84666-2 (2003)
The overall feeling of this album is a very 80's sound with modern
production, that is in parts very Madonna-like, and very drum driven.Opening
with the track "Shakedown" which is almost rap like at times, this 14 track
CD has some classic Blondie moments, the very Electro "Good Boys", the great
"The Tingler" and the fantastic "Last One in the World" (with its great
guitars and haunting Vocals, thisis the best track on here for me) all show
the band is as good as they ever were.
"The Golden Rod" is yet another outstanding track. "The Magic" is a slow building track with an almost
Eastern feels and this is also the case with ""Desire Brings Me Back" which
has Sax, horns and drums in a very Morrocan feel.
Another slow build up followed by a real punch is "Diamond Bridge". The
album closes with the slow, almost acoustic in parts "Sons of Love". This is
a more mature sounding Blondie but in parts reflects on past glories, and in
no way a bad album.
