ANDREAS VOLLENWEIDER The Storyteller (CD/DVD) Edel Records (2006)
Not a name many maybe familiar with but he has had numerous album chart successes in the US across various charts from jazz to classical to pop! Andreas Vollenweider primarily plays an electro-harp but before you run to the hills crying 'Lift music!' it is much better than that.
Plenty of classical influences and it reminded me of Kitaro - enjoyable, laid back music that manages to steer clear on the whole of becoming bland, New Age music.
Highlights include 'Lil Limba' with guest vocalist Bobby McFerrin, the lush arrangements on 'Dance of the Masks' and 'Jacobs Dream'.
You also get a DVD of live performances which makes for a well rounded collection plus all the tracks were selected by Vollenweider himself. Good, chill out music for fans of Kitaro and letter day Vangelis.
