AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE The Feeding DRT (2005)
To be honest I was not sure I was going to like this CD, not being a fan of
"screamy" modern metal. I was pleasantly surprised by this release by AHC,
said to be one of the leading lights of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal
(that includes bands like Mastadon & Shadows Fall) this load do deliver the
goods.
Having been through personal problems (including rehab) and label
problems over the past 4 years, the band have emerged to produce a tight
collection of modern metal stylings. Eleven songs of pure aggression
produced by a group of capable players with a lot to prove. One of the
highlights has to be 'Dirty' with its repetitious but catchy chanting of the
song title. Other highlights include 'Loyalty', which is to be released on
Valentines Day in the UK. The current intimate venue headline tour of the UK
is already sold out according to their website.
They have just been added to an April tour that includes Slipknot, Lamb of God and Shadows Fall. The band
is a must for fans of Slayer and their modern mutant offspring. I have no
doubt this one will outsell its predecessor. Nothing like a dose of angry
angst to get you going now is there?
