ALIEN Dark Eyes Frontiers (2005)
What is it with Scandinavia and bloody good melodic rock bands? This is yet another example of quality melodic rock that while familiar has enough originality to make it interesting.
After breaking up in the late 90s the back are back with an excellent album. Jim Jidhed's vocals evoke Joe Lynn Turner at his peak when with Malmsteen and Deep Purple. The band behind him (he plays guitar as well) are tight, professional and impressive.
Stand out tracks include the awesome ballad 'Oh Sarah' and the impressive title track. This is quality stuff that is catchy, melodic and enjoyable.
I find myself advancing to listen to this on my iPod. This lot adroitly avoid the cheesiness of some of this sort of release. 11 tracks of pure melodic class. What the hell could you possibly want?
