THRESHOLD - Upcoming shows without
singer Mac
THRESHOLD's singer Mac has astonished his fellow band members by deciding NOT to
perform at this weekend's Metal Camp and Earthshaker festivals in Slovenia and
Germany. "Mac was due to arrive in England on Saturday for band rehearsals, but
on Saturday morning he sent us a short email saying he has to get on with his
life and he's not coming", keyboarder Richard West states. "It was totally
unexpected and we're all shocked by the news. Mac won't answer our phone calls
so we can't get any more information from him.
With two festivals to perform
next weekend our only option was to cancel the shows or find a replacement
singer." Fortunately the band's previous singer Damian Wilson has come to the
rescue and will perform at the festivals with the band for the first time since
1997! Richard: " He's now very busy learning the new material in time for
Friday's show in Slovenia. We don't know what the long-term solution is, our
focus right now is on the two festivals, we'll see how they go and take it from
there."
Damian Wilson is currently lead singer for the band HEADSPACE who recently
supported OZZY OSBOURNE for UK shows including Wembley Arena.

TESTAMENT - New label, new songs, new video footage
TESTAMENT have played one of their new songs on the "Sounds Of The Underground"-
Tour and are now talking about their upcoming album. TESTAMENT recently inked a
world-wide deal with Nuclear Blast Records.
The group will enter the studio late
summer/early fall to record its long-awaited new album for a March 2008 release. HeavyMetalSource.com has posted a video interview with TESTAMENT frontman Chuck
Billy, conducted last Saturday at the Sayreville, New Jersey stop of the "Sounds
Of The Underground"- tour. Watch the ten-minute clip at YouTube.
Original TESTAMENT members Alex Skolnick (guitar), Chuck Billy (vocals), Greg
Christian (bass), and Eric Peterson (guitar), along with new drummer Nick Barker
(ex-DIMMU BORGIR, CRADLE OF FILTH), have finished writing more eight or nine
songs for the group's long-awaited follow-up to 1999's "The Gathering".
In a
recent interview with RockConfidential.com, Chuck Billy stated about the new
TESTAMENT material, "The music is very heavy but it's very catchy. Eric's got
some really catchy riffs. The vocals are real melodic with some catchy hooks.
It's really heavy. It's something new. Nick, coming from a black metal
background, is adding that spark that we needed. It's a fresh breath of life to
our writing.
In the past couple of years we've
written some songs but they weren't up to par with 'The Gathering'. Those songs
just went in the trash. We just started over when Nick came into the picture.
We're on a roll and the songs are turning out really good. . . [Lyrically] it's
gonna be covering a lot of stuff, things we've experienced in life. Especially
my illness, the cancer, and what I went through. I had some healing sessions and
did a lot of sweat lodges with some Indians and medicine men. I'm sure I'll be
talking about my experiences with the medicine men.
My father and Eric's father both passed
away within the past couple of years. The war in Iraq. We'll be talking about
those issues. It's things that people deal with in everyday life. We've gone
away from the cliché gloom-and-doom lyrics, the typical heavy metal lyrics."
Sunday night (July 15) TESTAMENT debuted a new song, entitled "The Afterlife",
during their headlining set at Jaxx in West Springfield, Virginia. According to
one attendee, the track was "a mid-paced song that was very heavy and had some
good, chunky riffs." Sitting behind the kit with the group was returning drummer
Paul Bostaph (SLAYER, FORBIDDEN), who was filling on short notice for Nick
Barker.

JOB FOR A COWBOY talk about the concept of 'Genesis'
JOB FOR A COWBOY lead singer Jonny Davy recently spoke to ChartAttack.com (
http://chartattack.com) about the band's lyrical approach on its latest CD,
"Genesis". Even though the album isn't being promoted as a concept effort, the
songs clearly tell a story of technology, religion and corrupt government, and
how they combine to lead to the end of civilisation.
"I spent a really long time on the lyrics," says Davy, who's the band's sole
songwriter. "At a pretty young age I realised that I was an atheist. Over time,
I read up on a lot of religions and religious conspiracies and conspiracies in
general.
"The record is actually about a biochip called the 'VeriChip' that's being
implanted [into people] and used for medical identification and money currency
purposes. People feel it's an invasion of privacy, and the other aspect is
religious leaders have come out against it for fear that this is going to be a
fulfillment of a prophecy in the Book Of Revelations.
"The VeriChip is actually being used today, and eventually they want to use it
to implant in people's arms or hands. So let's say you walk to a grocery store
and, instead of paying with money, you walk through a scanner and take the money
out of your account.
On the religious side, you can turn on American Christian
television and they'll be talking about it on their little talk shows. Religious
leaders fear that the Antichrist is going to use the chip to control every man
and woman in America and later the whole world."

BRAINSTORM - Andi Mailaender leaves the band!
Time To Say Goodbye!!!!!!!!!!!
15 years of Brainstorm - a damn long time!
... a dream I have worked hard for: record deal, successful releases, festivals
all over the world! Endless tours, bands and friends all over the world.
Because my professional situation is not going to ease up in the long run and I
won't be able to combine it with the upcoming touring for the new Brainstorm
release, I'm left with no choice but to leave Brainstorm...Too often the guys
had to do without me, in difficult times they always stood beside me as friends,
as the BS family and supported me in every possible way. I don't want to strain
this friendship any further!!
I'm certain that the new BS album will deservedly bring the band further
forward, the pay for the hard work of the band!! After so many hardworking years
with each other, I don't want to hold the band back anymore and allow the band a
kick-start for the release of the new album and the upcoming world tour. Of
course I'll continue to be present through my Myspace page (http://www.myspace.com)
and will follow Brainstorm's career with mixed feelings... and please feel free
to contact me whoever you are!
My thanks go out to the BS guys, Todde, Andy, Mille, Dieter and their families,
our super BS crew, webmistress Marlies, my family, my parents, my brother, Metal
Blade Records and most of all our fantastic BS fans all over the world!! THANK
YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's our doorway to survive
Best wishes,
Andi Mailaender

AEON to release "Rise To Dominate"
Finally! The new AEON album "Rise To Dominate" is finished and to be unleashed
upon mankind shortly! Be prepared for a technical Death Metal apocalypse! "Rise
To Dominate" is AEONs first album for Metal Blade Records and their third in
total.
According to the band, the new songs are even 'more brutal and raw than ever
before'. With all this going for the band, it’s no wonder that no other than Dan
Swanö (BLOODBATH, EDGE OF SANITY, a.o.), could be persuaded to mix the record.
All hell’s about to break loose around AEON!
What can possibly be a bigger honor for a brutal death metal band than having
the godfathers of the genre, CANNIBAL CORPSE, declare to be fans of this band
and take them out on a European tour?
That’s exactly what happened with AEON. As
a matter of fact, CANNIBAL bassist Alex Webster doesn’t waste a chance to sing AEONs praises: 'AEONs musicianship is among the best in death metal, but their
song writing is what truly sets them apart. It's rare to find a death metal band
that is simultaneously crushingly brutal and infectiously catchy. AEON is one of
those rare bands!'
"Rise To Dominate" will be released the 7th of September (G/A/CH/I) - 10th of
September (Europe)!
Track list "Rise To Dominate"
1) Helel Ben-Shachar
2) Spreading Their Disease
3) Living Sin
4) Hate Them
5) You Pray To Nothing
6) Caressed By The Holy Man
7) House Of Greed
8) Godless
9) When The War Comes
10) There Will Be No Heaven For Me
11) Luke 4-5-7
12) No One Escapes Us

THE ABSENCE - 'Did you want to be in our new CD?'
When we posted the original blog/bulletin in February about posting our fans

added an extra 4 pages to the new CD booklet just for it!

INTO THE MOAT checks in
Hello all. Long time no talk. Sorry about that. I hope everyone still remembers
us...you know, the technical metal band from south Florida?! However, our time
away from the road has not gone without it's merits. We have been hard at work
doing all that we do. Including college and work full time, and writing a new
record. Which by the way is coming out amazing. I truly think we're onto some
original stuff here.
We are playing a show in Miami this Friday with a bunch of
friends so that should be fun. (First show in about 8 months!) We have a new
bass player too. Introducing Nick the Greek: one of the sickest bass players in
south Florida, and a damn fin recording engineer too.
He's a great dude, and I
know every band that's been through a million line up changes says the same
thing, but I really think we are a stronger band now than ever before. Our new
record will definitely be a testament to that. We are recording in December with
our great friend Erik Rutan once again. We have been doing some pre-production
at my house though, so be on the look out for demos to be posted soon. We
promise. Until then, take care. We love you all.

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER comment on upcoming release of "Nocturnal"
'Hey troops, Trevor here from THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER. Just stopping by to tell
you about our new album, Nocturnal, which is currently being mastered. >From the
songs, to the artwork, to the sound quality itself, we could not be more pleased
with the results... We are all feeling like proud fathers over here.
The album
was recorded by Eric Rachel at Trax East, and mixed by Jason Seucof at
Audiohammer... it sounds absolutely crushing. It should be just a couple of days
before we post a new song on the myspace so you guys can have a taste of the
carnage to come.
In the meantime, we are gearing up for global destruction...
ahem, our tour of the European Festival circuit, as well as our return to the
UK. We are very excited to play at Wacken and are very honoured to have the
opportunity to play in front of so many metal heads. Not to mention our US tour
in the fall in support of CANNIBAL CORPSE... on which we will be debuting some
new material. Come out and support extreme metal!!!!'

Municipal Waste new video clip shot by Troma Entertainment
Municipal Waste new video clip to be shot by Cult 80's Horror film company Troma
Entertainment. 80's horror fans - get ready to be 'Tromatized' all over again!
Legendary independent film company Troma Entertainment will shoot Municipal
Waste's music video for the Thrash party anthem "HEADBANGER FACE RIP" from the
latest album "The Art of Partying" next week in New York.
Founded by Lloyd Kaufman in 1974 Troma are known the world over for their
genre-defining B-movie style shock flicks, that specialise in graphic violence,
political satire and a bizarre sense of humour. Having produced classics such as
'The Toxic Avenger', 'Class Of Nuke 'Em High' and 'Sgt Kabukiman, NYPD' this
will be the perfect marriage of splatter-style visuals with Municipal Waste's
colourful high energy Thrash assault. www.troma.com
The concept is being kept secret but we can tell you that it will involve some
of the favourite Troma characters such as the Toxic Avenger and Kabukiman.
"The Troma Team and I are huge fans of Earache Records and Municipal Waste, and
we're excited to make 'Headbanger Face Rip' into a Truly Tromatic and
Toxi-riffic Music Video Experience!"
- Lloyd Kaufman, President of Troma and
Creator of the Toxic Avenger.
Municipal Waste's lyrical miracle himself, Tony Foresta, is equally excited
about the upcoming shoot: "Troma's awesome! They are a huge influence on our
music, we are working out concepts for an amazing video. Hopefully it will have
boobies in it and blood and sh*t".
Lloyd Kaufman himself sums it up best: "It seems fitting that Municipal Waste
would ask the Troma Team to make a video for 'Headbanger Face Rip', as we've
been ripping faces off on film for over 30 years!"
'The Art Of Partying' is out now on CD (with FREE PATCH) and 10 different
coloured vinyl LPs on Earache Records in UK/Europe and due July 31 in USA on CD
(initial copies come with FREE PATCH)
Ephel Duath begin work on new album 'Through My Dog's Eyes'
Italian experimental jazz metallers Ephel Duath have begun work on a new album
due to be released in 2008. The album, entitled 'Through My Dog's Eyes' is set
to be a concept album in which a dog depicts his vision of various aspects of
life, from casual things like nightmares or walks to deeper issues such as
accepting death and the rules of nature that are unavoidable.
The band are
currently gathered together, writing and arranging the songs, and guitarist Davide had this to say about the album:
'The pre-production is very promising, and we'll abuse it to grasp and magnify
the potential of each track: we are sure that the album will not only please the
fans but that it will also bring us new ones'.
Talking about the concept behind
'Through My Dog's Eyes', Davide has also stated that:
'Lyrics-wise, it is a first person narrative in the shape of various short
novels.
We are in no way
attempting to prove any sort of superiority or draw a parallel between man and
animal. All we intend to do is capture the essence of how we think dogs see
life, hence the use of the first person, and all of this being speculation means
that the texts deal with sheer fantasy.
We'll push people to
think about this concept as an ode to one of the animals with the most humanity
in the eyes'.
'Through My Dog's Eyes' will follow the
release of the upcoming remix album entitled 'Pain Remixes The Known' which is
set to be released on July 23rd. To hear a track from the album head over to

Akercocke's 'Antichrist' U.S. release
Get sucked into hell by one of the most anticipated death metal releases of
2007. ‘Antichrist’ is the newest release by the satanic Englishmen, AKERCOCKE
and it makes its way to US stores TOMORROW.
Finally, America can find out what all of the controversy is about. ‘Antichrist’
is the album so evil that Northern Ireland opposed the band’s appearance in the

The NME declare that Thrash is Back!
British weekly music magazine NME has jumped aboard the Thrash resurgence and
openly declared that 'Thrash Is Back' in this week's issue. Reaching out to a
more mainstream market, the NME delves into the upcoming artists exploding out
of the genre and describes Thrash as 'a style of music that makes you want to
pour lager over your head and jump off speaker stacks'.
Focusing on Thrash as 'a place where life can be celebrated and consumed',
writer James McMahon presents Merseyside thrashers S.S.S, Dublin's Gama Bomb,
North Carolina's Sanctity, new Earache signing Evile and Virginian cross-over
thrash masters Municipal Waste as the new breed. Speaking to the NME, Municipal
Waste's Ryan Waste describes thrash as 'the most honest form of music' and
states 'It's aggressive, there's no frills to it, it's straightforward and it's
angry but in a positive way - because you're letting it through. You're
circle-pitting, you're stage diving, you're using your energy and getting out
aggression'.

Municipal Waste completes filming "Headbanger Face RIP" music Video with
Troma Entertainment
MUNICIPAL WASTE recently joined together with Troma Entertainment to complete a
music video for 'Headbanger Face Rip,' one of the many blistering tracks
featured on the band’s latest release, The Art of Partying
Have you ever wondered how good of a guitar player the Toxic Avenger is? What do
you think would happen when Sgt. Kabukiman, NYPD meets 'The Inebriator'? All
those on set for this momentous occasion know and soon, so will the world.
Shot primarily on bluescreen, Troma made sure to film MUNICIPAL WASTE in just
about every angle imaginable so the maximum amount of thrash could be
experienced by all.
When not playing for the camera, they played it UP for the
camera, donning white jumpsuits and officially becoming members of the Toxic
Crusaders. No one in the room was running on much sleep, nor was fueled by much
food, so to see the band play as hard as they did in front of the hot, blinding
studio lights is a testament to MUNICIPAL WASTE’s ability to thrash before all
else.
After he band had wrapped shooting their individual parts, it was time to film 3
of the finest creations ever to come out of the warped minds of Troma. The Toxic
Avenger, Sgt. Kabukiman, NYPD and a newer Troma character (now a band favorite),
Poultrygeist thrashed around the set like there was no tomorrow. It goes to show
that MUNICIPAL WASTE can fu*k up even the most seasoned of oddities.
As the day wore down, all notions of
this being a professional shoot went out the window, especially when the beer
arrived. The shoot turned into a giant party that just happened to be filmed.
With MUNICIPAL WASTE around, you never know what’s going to happen and soon Sgt.
Kabukiman, NYPD found out the hard way as he fell victim to the most monstrous
beer bong of all time, Tony Waste’s 'The Inebriator.'
After some group shots and the filming
of a brief scene involving MUNICIPAL WASTE’s tour van, the day was done. In the
end, as is usually the case wherever MUNICIPAL WASTE goes, a raging good time
was had by all. The way that Troma Entertainment and MUNICIPAL WASTE worked
together was like a match made in thrash heaven. They’ve accomplished to shoot a
video that will surely be as fun to watch as it was to be on set for. The video
will be so fun, in fact, that you won’t just watch, you will be compelled to
jump out of your seat and MOSH!
Keep your eyes peeled for the music
video for MUNICIPAL WASTE’s 'Headbanger Face Rip,' coming soon to screens
everywhere.
'Headbanger Face Rip' can be found on MUNICIPAL WASTE’s latest release, The Art
of Partying, out on July 31 in the US, available on the store links below.
Voting in the Kerrang! Awards, but don’t know who to vote for? Well, this is one

"I think we were all in the band looking forward to hitting the road again and

studio is ready and we decided to start recording the new album "PREVAIL"

DEVIAN - New Swedish Extreme Metal act DEVIAN (feat. Ex Marduk members) signs
to Century Media Records worldwide
Century Media is proud to announce the recent addition of Swedish melodic
Death/Black Metallers DEVIAN to the label’s diverse roster. DEVIAN was
originally founded by former Marduk members Legion (Vocals) and Emil
Dragutinovic (Drums) after their departure from the Black Metal commando in
their strife to come up with a new breed of wretched Scandinavian Metal.
Together with guitarists Joinus, Markus Lundberg (both members of Sargathanas
Reign) and bassplayer Tomas Nilsson, DEVIAN form an unstoppable organic extreme
Metal machine driven by a raving hunger and deadset determination
Bandleader Legion comments on the signing with CM as follows: 'Speaking for the
whole band, I want to say that we’re psyched, to say the least, about initiating
the DEVIAN onslaught on such a killer label as Century Media. We are all fans of
the label and the music they’ve put out during the years. Having worked with
them for some releases during the Marduk years, I know they always did a job
well done to a fault. We couldn’t have found ourselves a better label home.'
DEVIAN have finished tracking their upcoming debut album at Sweden’s Art Decay
Studio, whereas mixing duties were handled by sound-wizard Fredrik Nordström at
Studio Fredman (At The Gates, Arch Enemy, Dimmu Borgir, etc.). DEVIAN’s debut
will be entitled 'Ninewinged Serpent' and is tentatively set for release via
Century Media Records by October 2007.
Legion adds the following about the album: 'It’s a pummelling blackened death
thrasher, where we really tried to challenge ourselves and bring fresh elements
to the music compared to our efforts in previous projects, and I’d say we
managed to achieve that.
What at first looked to be mine and Emil’s continuation
of 'World Funeral' grew into a much more multifaceted sound and we loved taking
it in that direction and really making it all it could be. It’s no-bullsh*t
raving metal straight from the heart charged with uncontrollable anger, haunting
melodies and bone crushing heaviness. It’s got a lot of power and soul and we
are all extremely proud of what we’ve managed to achieve.'

HIMSA - Post New Track Online; Embark On European Tour
Like a voracious hellion, the mighty HIMSA have returned to annihilate the
masses with their scathing new metal assault, 'Summon In Thunder', which is set
for a September 17th release. The scathing new track, 'Big Timber,' can now be
streamed on the band’s official MySpace page www.myspace.com/himsa
The group
will also head overseas this September for a month-long European tour alongside
As I Lay Dying, Darkest Hour and label mates Maroon.
Johnny Pettibone states: ''Summon in Thunder' - History has repeated itself in
nature's vicious circle, giving a warning to the deterioration and collapse of
humanity around us all. The heaviness of inspiration and failure, the strive to
succeed and the pain of defeat. A call of cleansing for man's evils throughout
the ages be it political, environmental, religious, or individual mental being.
We all are guilty in the journey of survival.'
'Summon In Thunder' will also include such exclusive extras as a video for the
track "Unleash Carnage," a 15-minute making-of-the-album documentary.
This scorching new effort (and debut Century Media offering) also marks the
return of original guitarist, Sammi Curr, to the fold. With Curr rejoining and
collaborating with Kirby Johnson (guitars), the group's integrity and passion
were at an all-time high, resulting in their most dynamic, yet devastating
material yet.
In 2007, HIMSA are destined to leave a definitive mark on the genre.

DIMMU BORGIR - Drummer to sit out festivals + tour
Norwegian Black metal masters DIMMU BORGIR have issued the following statement:
"Due to Hellhammers injury (the x-ray report confirms a severe neck prolapse
causing his right arm to numb out) he will be unable to play drums for Dimmu
Borgir on the remaining festivals this summer and the upcoming European tour,
also featuring Amon Amarth and Hatesphere. Hellhammer will go into treatment and
a possible surgery for this shortly. Taking his place will be Tony Laureano
(Nile, Angelcorpse, Aurora Borealis), who also played for Dimmu Borgir during
Ozzfest 2004 and festivals in 2005.
We wish Hellhammer a swift and successful recovery!"
The European leg of "The Invaluable Darkness" tour kicks off in Amsterdam on
September 23rd and will finish in their hometown Oslo on November 6th.

The often imitated yet never duplicated Detroit deathsters THE BLACK DAHILA
MURDER have returned to the public eye to reclaim their rightful throne as

"Dead and Gone" comes off the group's sophomore CD, "Riders of the Plague", due
on August 7 via Metal Blade Records. The album was recorded at Mana Studios in
Florida with Swedish producer Jonas Kjellgren (SCAR SYMMETRY, CARNAL FORGE).

Sweden. The CD features guest appearances by guitarists James Murphy (DEATH,
TESTAMENT), Jonas Kjellgren, Per Nilsson (SCAR SYMMETRY) and Santiago Dobles (AGHORA)

HATE ETERNAL announces new drummer
Florida-based band extreme metal act HATE ETERNAL has announced the addition of
drummer Jade Simonetto to the group's ranks.
Commented guitarist/vocalist Erik Rutan (ex-MORBID ANGEL), "Jade and I have been
working together for six months or so, and his incredible skill and dedication
to extreme drumming and groove has made him the perfect drummer for HATE
ETERNAL. We get on everything from all the old songs to the new and the
creativity process has been amazing.
"Working with Jade on the new songs, there is so much diversity and signature
drumming to the melodies and riffs.
"We have been in the middle of pre-production right now for weeks and will be
doing pre-production till the end of August. We will then start recording the
drum tracks for our album!
"I am super-excited about the new material and Alex [Webster, CANNIBAL CORPSE]
is coming up with some incredible bass lines!
"This album is covering a lot more ground than we have previously and I am
excited about jamming with Jade and Alex, and a surprise in the works! A lot
more groove and diversity in an extreme way.
"We will record and mix between now and October, with an early 2008 release on
Metal Blade."
CANNIBAL CORPSE's Alex Webster was recruited to play bass on HATE ETERNAL's new
album following the departure of Randy Piro Jr.
Webster and Rutan have had a close working relationship prior to collaborating
on HATE ETERNAL's new album. Rutan produced CANNIBAL CORPSE's latest CD, "Kill"
(2006)
HATE ETERNAL signed a new record deal with Metal Blade Records in January 2007.

AEON launch new homepage
'Since there is a new album on its way ('Rise to Dominate') we figured it would
be nice to re-design the whole website so it would match the new albums artwork
a little bit better. There has been some small complements to the content as
well. Lyrics added, some "new" merchandise that was only available at gigs
before.
However, a couple of things has been left out (press material, hi-res logos,
videos etc) for the moment but will be back in a few days.
If you find any errors, odd behaviours or if you have any other feedback
concerning the website, feel free to contact us.'

ARCH ENEMY - Reveal new album cover artwork, US tour, special "Kerrang!" show
Metal maestros ARCH ENEMY are proud to present you the artwork of their
upcoming, highly anticipated new masterpiece 'Rise of The Tyrant', which will be
unleashed upon the metal world on September 24th, 2007.
ARCH ENEMY mastermind Michael Amott (guitars) comments on the artwork created by
Niklas Sundin / Cabin Fever Media as follows: 'This time around I turned to
Niklas Sundin to bring the ‘RISE OF THE TYRANT’ imagery to life, and what a
splendid job he did! I am always amazed by this man’s imagination and talent,
and his seemingly never-ending patience in dealing with me! We worked closely on
the project from the beginning and what we ended up with is something somewhat
different to what we have done in the past: fewer colours, quite clandestine and
very sinister! Wonderful!
The track ‘RISE OF THE TYRANT’ is musically the most
extreme song we recorded and Angela’s lyrics fitted perfectly the mood of the
music so we decided this had to be the name of the album. The cover reflects the
atmosphere of total megalomania inspired by that song. The booklet artwork is
really lending itself towards intense merchandise and stage production ideas,
all of which will be revealed soon. But for now, stare into the all-seeing eye
of the rising tyrant!'
Furthermore the band can already announce details of their upcoming live
activities. Prior to crushing Europe in Nov./Dec. 2007 on the 'Black Crusade'
tour with Machine Head, Trivium, Dragonforce and Shadows Fall, ARCH ENEMY will
head out for 'The Black Tyranny' US co-headliner tour with Machine Head, visit
Australia with Machine Head and Trivium, as well as perform an exclusive show at
London’s club The Barfly on August 17th, so get your necks prepared for some of
the heaviest live shows in 2007!

TURISAS - To release ‘Rasputin’ as a single
Finland’s battle metallers Turisas will be swapping their blood soaked furs and
axes for the glitter & glitz of the 70’s disco era with the release of their
debut single ‘Rasputin’ on 24th September.
On the release of their interpretation of the classic disco hit originally by
Boney M, Warlord Nygard comments 'We've been begged to record Rasputin pretty
much since we first played it live a couple of years back. It's amazing how
popular this cover version of ours have become at our gigs during the last year
and it really makes us feel like we must have done something right here looking
at big crowds going totally mental over a 70's disco hit! I remember getting the
idea for this cover years back - in 2001 I think.
I was on a ferry trip between
Finland and Sweden and there was this cover band performing 70's disco hits. The
minute they blasted ‘Rasputin’ I knew, that at some point, we would need to do
it in some form or another. It was just obvious that it would work amazingly
well given a slightly more modern and heavier touch-up. Personally I've always
preferred these old 70's disco bands'.
The band filmed were busy filming the video for ‘Rasputin’ in Hämeenlinna,
Finland with director Vesa-Matti Vainio(Vasarafilms) earlier this week and
Warlord reported back "We had a tough day yesterday shooting the video for
‘Rasputin’ and now my whole body is aching.
The setting for the video is really
weird but cool! Think Saturday Night Fever meets Turisas with a worn out
East-European twist... Mirror balls, high heels, high waists, cocktails,
hotpants vs. fur, blood, dirt and sweat. Quite a combo!". A link to the video
will be made available very soon
The disco Vikings will be headlining at the following venues in September:
15/09/07 Nottingham - Rock City
16/09/07 Manchester Academy 3
17/09/07 Glasgow Cathouse
18/09/07 Newcastle Academy
19/09/07 London Islington Academy
20/09/07 Birmingham Academy 2
21/09/07 Bristol Academy

NACHTMYSTIUM news
Cult American Black Metal legends Nachtmystium back catalogue re-issued on
Candlelight with full co-operation from the band
Nachtmystium have been dwelling within the U.S. black metal underground for a
period of time in which this enigma have clearly spearheaded themselves as one
of North America's most prominent acts within the scene. Where in the beginning,
we witnessed Nachtmystium portray a bleak sound-picture by incorporating the
many facets that became synonymous with the brand of traditional, raw and
primitive black metal that was surfacing from these shores, it was quite evident
that the promise that such an act showed in its early stages, was just a mere
warning of what was inevitably to come. Surely though, Nachtmystium have always
shown their distinct histrionics on their interpretation on how they liked to
portray their black metal art.
Through morose and mournful hymns that displayed a scenario where sadness and
hatred were the two dominating emotions that bled from band leader Azentrius'
instrument, this vision that he has conjured up many years ago, has reached it's
phoenix with the surfacing of the latest Nachtmystium observation,
Instinct:Decay.
With "outside" influences such as Pink Floyd (a prominent
influential artist consistent within Nachtmystium 'S repertoire, Earth, and even
Sunn0))) (an act with whom Nachtmystium have shared the stage), such influences
that have been incorporated within the Nachtmystium sound have helped take this
band's sound to new levels and new perspectives respectively.
Overall, Instinct:Decay will solidify Nachtmystium 's position within the U.S. black
metal elite alongside such black metal artists as Xasthur, Leviathan, Krieg, and
Thralldom, artists with whom Nachtmystium share a comradeship, all while
re-defining, and re-shaping, the future of black metal.
OCTOBER FILE news
A raging assault of post apocaylpse sonic heaviness
October File finally release their long awaited and, in some quarters, highly
anticipated second album. A raging assault on the senses from start to finish -
with Jaz Coleman from Killing Joke adding his dulcet tones.
Musically, October File deliver an even heavier and more direct approach than
the highly rated last EP. Dark, aggressive, angular and downright angry are the
closest descriptions.
Lyrically the band have the balls to say what's on their mind, subjects such as
climate change, war, corruption and religion all get the treatment, some more
than others.
"Religion?" for instance deals with the fact that maybe most
religions outlook that we should all have to bow to some imaginary god or get
beheaded just really isn't on. the band also cover murder for amusement, rape,
human disappointment and day to day drudgery in equally eloquent terms. songs
about girls, having fun and how cool summer is just didn't make the album. "Holy
Armour From The Jaws Of God" will be released 29th October through Candlelight
records.
August
17 - (UK) The Furnace, Swindon
MANNGARD - "European Cowards" out 3rd September
The call to arms from thundering, compelling riffs and dangerous hook lines -
the war cries from metal maniacs! Manngard's "European Cowards" throws you
headfirst into the mosh pit, while adding something new to their patented
death/black/thrash metal sound, a disturbing, mean, downright evil atmosphere,
delivered with their trademark aggression and strangely alluring progressive
elements.
Unique in their approach to the genre, Manngard are blasting out a
decidedly organic sound, avoiding the triggered drums and sterile production of
their contemporaries.
On this, their second album, the field of lyrics is widened, from the murky
backwoods of their hellish origins to the old confrontations between Europe and
the USA, the consequences of inherited aversions of injustice, following
annexation of new territories.
Manngard have fled from the path of the many, the
conformists, and demand divine justice, redressing all the wrongs that have been
done, the flag of rebellion is flying high...
"European Cowards" was produced and engineered by Iver Sandøy, lyrics by Olav
Kristiseter, cover concept and design by Olav Iversen.
In August of this year, Manngard will play the Hole In The Sky festival in
Bergen, Norway, presenting material from the new album live for the first time.
New SEAR BLISS album's cover artwork revealed
The artwork is painted by Jozsef Tari, a highly talented Hungarian artist who
painted the artwork of the previous Sear Bliss album and also Venom's Wastelands
album, amongst others. The artwork depicts an ancient Hungarian legend of the
origin of the Milky Way.
The Milky Way in Hungary is often called "The Road Of The Warriors" because the
legend says that Csaba, commander of the mighty Huns, came from the night sky to
the aid of the fighting Hungarians and after the great battle was won, the dead
army of thousands returned to the stars on their horses, leaving the path of the
Milky Way. To see the artwork click here. The new Sear Bliss album The Arcane
Odyssey is out 24th September through Candlelight Records.
CANDLELIGHT RECORDS - Various extreme metal stars collaborate with Egyptian
artist
Egyptian artist Nader Sadek has invited Steve Tucker (ex-Morbid Angel), Trym
(Emperor, Zyklon), Alex Skolnick (Testament), and Ralph Santolla (Obituary,
ex-Deicide, Death), as well as Middle Eastern legend Omar Faruk Tekbilek, Miles
Jay (ex-Weird Al, Fathy S alama's Orchestra, Liron Peled (Raquy And The Cavemen)
and Raquy Danziger to contribute to his multimedia installation "The Faceless"
that opens 6th September at Michael Steinberg Fine Art in New York's Chelsea
district.
These musicians worked with Sadek to
produce a noise experiment moving in and out of independently conceived death
metal and Arabic music tracks. This sonic composition accompanies Sadek's
uniquely installed drawings which juxtapose the iconographies of death metal and
Middle Eastern fundamentalism, which outsiders often associate with darkness,
moon worship, and anti-Christian fervour. "The Faceless" startles the audience
into rethinking connections between these two frequently misunderstood and
villified cultures.
Having grown up a death metal fan in Egypt, Sadek works from the knowledge that
the Egyptian state perceived both death metal and religious fundamentalism as
threats to its power and legitimacy: death metal rebels against religious and
political hypocrisy; piety rebels against a bureaucratic, commercialized, and
godless world. Through sound, image, and space, "The Faceless" mingles these
cultures in thoughtful, frightening, and uncanny ways.
Says Sadek: "For a while now, I've been interested in exploring what different
cultures perceive of as extreme. 'The Faceless' grows out of years of walking
the crowded streets of down-town Cairo dressed as a full-on death metal fan
(i.e., long black hair, long-sleeve Morbid Angel/Deicide t-shirts, and an
overall grungy look).
Then, in a sort of twisted reversal, I decided to walk the
streets of New York's Times Square in the black garb of a fully veiled woman.
The intense reactions I got in each case confirmed for me the potential of this
project.
Those experiences inspired me to channel the popular paranoid fantasy
in which the fully veiled woman is wrought from a dark death metal world, full
of serpents, skulls, demons and dark mountains. I hope that by reflecting back
to the audience their paranoid fantasies, which totally oversimplify the reality
of Middle Eastern and death metal culture, that my work will get them to
question their own prejudices and sense of the extreme."

EMPEROR: New video interview and live footage available
MetalKult.com has posted a new video interview with Emperor’s Ihsahn in which
the Norwegian black metal singer/guitarist talks about a range of topics,
including the motivation behind his group's early diabolical image, his feelings
on Emperor guitarist Samoth and ex-drummer Faust's incarcerations and how he
managed to avoid trouble in Norway's treacherous Nineties black metal scene.
"I admit I was very caught up in the whole thing," says Ihsahn of the criminal
actions and controversial views held by the Norwegian black metal scene. "But
I've always been much more interested in the musical and lyrical side of things,
and I've never been a violent person... I play it safe, in a way."
The video was filmed in New York City on 1st July, 2007, while Emperor were in
the city for one of only three U.S. tour dates. Also on MetalKult.com is live
footage of "Curse You All Men!" from that show.

BRAINSTORM enter studio to record new CD
"All systems "go" in Brainland. We have entered the Gate Studios in Wolfsburg
together with producers Sascha Paeth and Michael Rodenberg to record our new CD,
which is due on January 25th, 2008. Preceding the full length CD will be a
single CD release on October 19th, 2007 to give you a first shot of new
BRAINSTORM tunes. Be prepared for a real BRAINSTORM from head to toe!
Recordings are going extremely well so far and we are simply overwhelmed how
impressing the new songs sound. These are definitely the best BRAINSTORM songs
that have seen the light of day yet, no kidding, no blank phrases - this is the
ultimate BRAINSTORM album so far. Really can't wait to let you hear!
Furthermore, our DVD "Honey From The B'S" has entered the Hungarian DVD charts
on #18! Nothing short of amazing I would like to say!
Last but not least, thanks to all the bass players that have sent in and are
still sending their applications. We received tons of emails and parcels from
bassists all over the world plus there's still stuff coming in and - of course -
any applications are still welcome under info@brainstorm-web.net.
Stay tuned for more news soon!

and IMMORTAL among many other great bands. I know that I am going to be running
around like crazy trying to see every band playing that day!"
The touring frenzy is due to hit the UK next week before the band embark on

Akercocke to play 10th anniversary show this weekend
Leading UK death metallers Akercocke have announced that they will play a
commemorative show this Saturday, August 4th at The Underworld in London. This
gig marks Akercocke's 10th year of churning out some of the most brutal and
pivotal satanic death metal around today, and follows the release of the
blistering 'Antichrist'. Speaking about the gig, Akercocke have stated:
"We've decided finally to go ahead and mark the 10th year of the band's
existence with a unique show that will feature a lot of unusual material as well
as some classic blasters, older songs that have seldom seen an airing and some
that haven't been heard live for many years or ever".
Support for this event will be provided by Kingsize Blues, Ted Maul, Breed
Apart, Cinders Fall, Toy Town Cash and Snakebite. Tickets are 12.50GBP and doors
open at 4.30pm. To buy tickets for this special event, click here.

Municipal Waste/SSS - albums out today - Thrash Tuesday
Today is like Christmas, the Super Bowl and your 21st birthday bender all
wrapped up in one for thrash fans all over America. It's THRASH TUESDAY! This is
the day, of course, when MUNICIPAL WASTE's The Art of Partying and SSS's Short
Sharp Shock hit store shelves.
MUNICIPAL WASTE - The Art of Partying is the type of album that makes you want
to tap a keg, finish it in one sitting then throw it around the house just for
kicks. A throwback to the days when thrash could make you smile just as fast as
it makes you headbang, The Art of Partying pulls no punches and keeps at a full
throttle pace from beginning to end. If you buy The Art of Partying, you will
also receive two bonus tracks and a limited edition MUNICIPAL WASTE patch while
supplies last.
SSS - Short Sharp Shock is a straightforward kick in the balls that shreds
circles around those who do not thrash. Fueled by anger, aggression and wit,
SSS's Short Sharp Shock raises the stakes on the likes of S.O.D and Suicidal
Tendencies and as Decibel cleverly puts it, "goes for the throat." Short Sharp
Shock is also available on limited edition colored vinyl.
Don't walk...don't run...MOSH to your favorite music store, tear the aisles
apart and DEMAND your copies of MUNICIPAL WASTE -The Art of Partying and SSS -
Short Sharp Shock. You can also order them online by going to
