(News posted: 2005-06-28) *** ~PRIMAL FEAR - earthshaker festival live chat sessions~ According to the organizers of the Earthshaker Festival, PRIMAL FEAR will take part in a live chat on June 30th at 8:00pm CET. ~GRAVE DIGGER will do the same on July 18th at 9:00pm CET~. As previously reported, DIMMU BORGIR has replaced TESTAMENT on the bill. The festival takes place on July 21st - 23rd in Geiselwind, Germany. (News posted: 2005-06-28) ~DIMMU BORGIR - replace testament at earthshaker festival~ As announced by the organizers of the Earthshaker Festival and confirmed last week, TESTAMENT have been forced to cancel their appearance due to "personal obligations". DIMMU BORGIR has been confirmed as a replacement. Assuming they will simply fill Testament's spot, Dimmu Borgir will play on Saturday, July 23rd from 8:45pm - 10:15pm. The Earthshaker Festival is due to take place from July 21st - 23rd in Geiselwind, Germany, Go to this location for the complete festival running order. *** ~CRYSTAL BALL - cover revealed~ Swiss melodic metallers CRYSTAL BALL have uploaded the cover artwork for their fifth album »TimeWalker« at this location. »TimeWalker« is scheduled for release on August 29. The follow-up to 2003's »Hellvetia« was once again produced by Stefan Kaufmann (ACCEPT, U.D.O.) and will include 12 tracks. A headlining tour of Europe is tentatively planned for the fall. *** ~EXODUS - update… from the new guy!~ EXODUS frontman Rob Dukes has posted the following update on the progress of the recording sessions for the band's new album: "Just checking in to let you know where we are at... Paul [Bostaph, drums; Ex-SLAYER, FORBIDDEN] is done — fuc*ing killed it. Gary [Holt, guitar] — rhythm tracks done...fuc*ing awesome. Jack [Gibson, bass] — has one song left ...fuc*ing sick... Gary's done a few leads and just shredded them. I'm done with three tracks and everyone is stoked." EXODUS are currently recording their new album at Trident studios in Pacheco, California. The as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2004's »Tempo of the Damned« will mark the band's first release with Dukes. Mixing duties will be handled by Andy Sneap (MACHINE HEAD, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY, KREATOR). Among the tracks set to appear on the CD is 'Shovel Headed Kill Machine' (working title), which Holt has described as "one of the fastest EXODUS songs of all time." One track will appear on a forthcoming AIDS benefit compilation. The other track will appear on a special compilation following my book project "Chronicles" in January 2006. "I've nearly finsihed my book during my stay in Vancouver, but there are a lot of more things to add. Now I have to finish the new PRIMAL FEAR album, »Seven Seals«, first, including all the cover artwork and photo stuff, mastering and the video clips. Everybody who could listen to the album so far is totally surprised about the music and production — nice! We will present the album to 20 European journalists on July 30th. On July 1, the band will enter the Sonic Pump studios in Helsinki to start the recording process. Producers will be Nino Laurenne (THUNDERSTONE) for instruments and Marco Hietala (NIGHTWISH) for vocals. We suspect most of you guys, our hardcore fanbase at least, wonder what's up our sleeve next, understandably so. There seems to have been quite a lot of 'confusion' lately, rumors back and forth, about this and that and whatnot, since the lack of information has been pretty evident the last couple of months. Perhaps we are partly to blame for that, one reason being that we simply might do this on purpose since we don't necessarily like the perception of being everybody's news center at all times to keep people updated on loads of unimportant sh*t, so-called everyday stuff. It might look as if we don't care, and it's true, we don't, unless there's some specific and important sh*t to discuss, like now. Tony Laureano [Ex-NILE] will join us for all abovementioned festivals this summer, while Hellhammer [MAYHEM] has offered his services for the new full-length album. "Re-release of »Stormblåst«: We will have recording sessions in Abyss Studios with Peter 'Jahhh!!' Tägtgren during the summer. Because of unexpected conflicting schedules, and with already booked studio time, we were suddenly forced to swiftly find a replacement for the drummer who originally agreed to do this recording with us. So we simply asked the closest one from home, Hellhammer, coincidently and luckily for us he was free to do that job as well! Tentative release date is sometime before this year is over. And yes, it'll have extra material, previously unreleased stuff, what's the point of a re-release without? But more about the real reason why we chose to do this album all over again in its entirety later. "Next full-length album: Writing will begin August/September sometime, once everything else with festivals and re-recordings are out of the way. It'll take the time it needs, so don't expect any release sooner than second half of 2006, at earliest. As I Lay Dying set to release new CD Shadows Are Security on Metal Blade Records Europe June 20 – New video for "Confined"! Metal Blade Recording artists AS I LAY DYING recently shot their first video from the forthcoming Shadows are Security CD (June 14) for the track titled "Confined." This grueling video shoot was documented in the late hours of 4:00 pm until 4:00 am at the abandoned Tustin Air Base in Tustin, CA. Directed by Chris Sims, who best described the video while editing the footage as "a metal kid's wet dream" Chris is best known for his work on videos for Lamb Of God, Norma Jean, and Zao.
