EXODUS - Tom Hunting has returned
EXODUS-drummer Tom Hunting has returned! 'It was always understood that when and
if Tom was ever ready to resume his drumming duties for the band his seat would
be waiting', the band states. 'Paul always knew this and was the first to say it
upon joining the band.
Paul and Tom always have been good friends and we, as a band, cannot thank Paul
enough for his services on Shovel Head and all subsequent tours. That having
been said, we are so excited to have Tom back in the band he co-founded. We are
hard at work on the new songs, and this sh*t is the best and heaviest music
we’ve ever written. This album will redefine thrash metal as we know it. We will
be hitting the studio mid May with producer Andy Sneap, and you have been
warned!'

Che leaves BORN FROM PAIN
THE KING IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE KING...
What's up everybody? First off, we'd like to thank everybody that came out to
"The War Is On" Tour until now. It has been amazing so far and we are looking
forward to the weeks still coming....
On a different note; yes the rumours are true, Che is leaving BORN FROM PAIN.
After 10 years of dedication, hard work and withstanding the tests of time
alongside of us, Che has decided that he needs to move onto different things in
life and set other priorities than those that come with playing in a band. The
split is in good friendship and we wish Che all the best with all things to come
in his life. Che has emphasised that him leaving should never be a reason for
BORN FROM PAIN trying to reach the goals the band has set for itself.
This is what Che has to say about the split with the band:
"In the summer of ’97 I bought a ticket for a rollercoaster ride called BORN
FROM PAIN, and got more than I bargained for. Ever since the very first
beginning I played so many shows, met even more great people and learned a lot
about the world, music and especially me as a person.
During the last year and a half however, I started struggling with my priorities
and found out I wasn’t into the band that much anymore as I was in our early
career. This resulted in one of the hardest decisions I ever had to make in my
life; me quitting BORN FROM PAIN. I found myself not being able to put energy
into the band outside of the live shows, and later it became even harder and
harder for me to get into the tour van to go to shows. I felt like I was lightly
burnt out by a lot of things and especially BORN FROM PAIN.
This led to me estranging from the band, to a certain extent, and I started
thinking about a life without BORN FROM PAIN. The more I thought about it, the
more I started to like the idea about having a regular life, a normal career and
different hobbies without BORN FROM PAIN 'dictating' my life. Like I said I had
some great times with this band, but this is as far as I can take it.
I have no more energy nor the will to push it any further than I have done up
until this point. Me staying in the band would only keep the band behind, and
that is not something I wish to happen to BORN FROM PAIN. BORN FROM PAIN has
always been a band that pushed its limits and a band is only as strong as its
weakest link.
"I will still be active in the music scene, but more on the background, like
managing and advising bands. I will be playing music as well but that will be on
a hobby basis. I’m happy the other guys decided to keep the machine rolling and
that we’re able to split in friendship.
I’d like to thank everyone who supported me and BORN FROM PAIN throughout
the years as well as GSR music, Metal Blade Records, Hollowman, M.A.D. and their
entire staff for believing in this crazy thing that I helped create… Last but
not least I wish Karl, Rob, Roel and Dom all the luck they deserve with BORN
FROM PAIN in the future. The war is still on… "
BORN FROM PAIN will NOT be cancelling shows and will have none other than Carl
Schwartz from FIRST BLOOD filling in on the mic. With Carl we have found someone
that has been on the frontline of the scene for many years and is fully in sync
with BORN FROM PAIN's musical direction as well as our message. Carl will be
taking the position on the mic for an undetermined time.
This is what Carl has to say:
"I am sad to hear that Che is leaving the band and that his time at the front of
one of my favourite European hardcore bands will soon come to an end. His
charisma and commanding presence will surely be missed, and his shoes will
undoubtedly be hard to fill.
However, I am excited for the opportunity to hit the stage and help the band
continue doing what they've been doing for all these years. I am looking forward
to stepping in, not only because of the band's true sincerity and dedication,
but because they are my friends."
We all have full faith in this co-operation and are ready for battle. Be ready.
The war is still on!

CANNIBAL CORPSE to be supported by IMPIOUS and LAY DOWN ROTTEN
Since MORTEM can't play any of their shows CANNIBAL CORPSE will have different
bands opening for the rest of the tour. Three shows will be opened by Metal
Blade Recording artists!
IMPIOUS @ 19.03. - Gothenborg - Musikenshus (SWE)
LAY DOWN ROTTEN @ 21.03. - Hannover - Musikzentrum (GER)
LAY DOWN ROTTEN @ 22.03. - Jena - F Haus (GER)
CANNIBAL CORPSE have checked in with the following update after completing the
first two weeks of their European tour: 'Hey everybody, I just wanted to let you
all know how our European tour is going so far. Today we're playing in Slovenia,
which will be the 14th show of the tour, so this show marks the halfway point.
So far all of the shows have gone really well, the audiences have been excellent
night after night. We also were very happy to finally play in Romania and
Bulgaria. It was our first time playing in either of those countries, but it
certainly won't be the last. Both countries have great death metal scenes, and
we hope to return there when we tour for our next album.
The other countries we've been through so far have been: France, Portugal,
Spain, Italy, Greece, and Serbia, which was last night. We've met a ton of cool
people at every show, so I'd like to say hello and thanks to any of you who
might be reading this. OK, sound check is going to start in a few minutes, so
I'd better get going. Thanks again to all the fans who have come to the shows so
far, see the rest of you soon!'

SUICIDE SILENCE - Sign world-wide with Century Media Records
Century Media Records is proud to announce SUICIDE SILENCE as the newest
addition to its world-wide family. This devastating quintet from Riverside, CA
immediately separated themselves from the underground through an undying work
ethic and undeniable live performance. The group will enter the studio in March
with John Travis (Kid Rock, Static-X) to record their debut full-length, which
is tentatively set for a summer release.
Mitch Lucker (vocals) further describes the band's excitement over the new deal:
"We're very excited to join such a historic roster alongside so many great metal
bands. The Century Media Family is extremely hard working and dedicated to
supporting the goals we've set as a band.
They have a solid understanding of the direction we're looking to take this band
and are just as much our friends as they are our record label at this point.
Thank you to everyone who has been with us from the beginning and we can't wait
to get back on the road to support the release of our new record later this
year. See you all soon."
SUICIDE SILENCE released a five-song EP for Third Degree Records in 2005, which
was the perfect testament to the damage the band is capable of inflicting. Their
music clearly represents their many influences, incorporating a savage mix of
death metal, grindcore, black metal, hardcore and doom elements into each track.
The group's most notable and defining niche is defying the genre's predictable
conventions, striving to create something more exciting and unique. The songs
are dynamic and crushing, shifting effortlessly from insane grind chaos into
surgically precise, disorienting time signatures topped off with snail-paced
grooves and destructive breakdowns.
Following an acclaimed performance at last year's New England Metal and Hardcore
Festival, SUICIDE SILENCE spent the remainder of the summer on their first
headlining U.S. run, with All Shall Perish and Too Pure To Die in the support
slots. This would lead immediately into their first U.K. headlining tour,
helping them further garner a rabid worldwide underground following.
SUICIDE SILENCE adheres to no preconceived notions and refuses to be pigeonholed
into any specific genre. The juxtaposition of each member's talents creates an
explosive, yet exciting result that is sure to keep the entire extreme music
world on their toes and wondering just what is coming next. Expect the
boundaries of conventionality to be shattered in 2007 with this dynamic debut
release.

MORTIIS - 'The Grudge' remix video edit online now
A specially edited version of Mortiis' 'The Grudge' video has been uploaded at
You Tube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0P66q_qms5E
The edit by Charlie Deaux is backed by a soundtrack of the David Wallace Remix
of 'The Grudge' which will appear on the forthcoming remix album 'Some Kind of
Heroin', released on April 16.
Commenting on the video, Mortiis explained; 'Actually that video came as a
surprise, I think Charlie wanted to showcase his creative ideas with thisversion
of the video, really go all the way with it, and it caught me totally by
surprise but I love it, as a matter of fact I love the unchained intensity of
it, the fact that it's really frantic and fast really works with the remix Dave
did, which also caught me by surprise.
Dave really made that song sound like an "old school" 90's industrial song,
which I have always used as a big inspiration for a lot of the music I write, at
least in the last couple of years."

On 'Suck Out The Poison' HE IS LEGEND once again defy pigeonholing with a
brilliant mix of Southern Rock, Grunge, Metal and Emo sounds, and the album has
been hailed by critics as a 'force of nature' (STARDUST (D) magazine) whereas
German METAL HAMMER labelled it a 'rousing and extremely diverse mixture that
knows no taboos'.

THE BLACK DAHILA MURDER announce new drummer
Detroit-based extreme metallers THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER have issued the
following update:
"Well, after 4.5 months of grueling searching, we are extremely happy to
announce that Shannon Lucas [ex-ALL THAT REMAINS] has joined THE BLACK DAHLIA
fold. He is an extremely sick player, as many of you already know, and we can't
wait to do the next album together. We also would like to thank everyone that
tried out for the band. We had the chance to jam with some amazing dudes
throughout the process. We encourage everyone who can to come out to our first
show back at New England Metal and Hardcore Festival [in late April]."
THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER is currently writing material for the follow-up to
2005's "Miasma", due later in the year via Metal Blade Records. "It's definitely
in the same vein as our older stuff," vocalist Trevor Strnad told MTV.com in
January. "Nothing drastically changed. It's just more tasteful, and some of this
new stuff will be faster than the last record."
THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER will record the new CD with Eric Rachel, who mixed
"Miasma". "There's going to be a lot more soloing than we've done previously,"
Strnad explained to MTV.com. "This record's a bit more European-sounding, I
think. More so than we already were, if you can imagine that. The solo stuff has
a black metal-ish flavor to it. We messed around with that a little bit
previously, but some of the songs have a major DISSECTION kind of feel to them."
Lyrically, Strnad said the record — due in the fall — will be "more
horror-oriented" than "Miasma". "As far as gore and death and stuff like that
goes, I mean, that's all been done — into the ground," he said. "I am just
trying to do something like that, but with my own flavor to it. There are still
ways to repulse people out there — I just need to figure it all out."
THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER is also working on its first DVD release, which Strnad
hopes will include footage documenting the making of the band's next record.

Complete UNEARTH update
'So we just landed in the UK and we are all eager as fu*k to headline the UK and
Europe for the first time. We have done some amazing European tours before, but
it will feel damn good to play a full set and put on our show for our friends
overseas.
We are hitting up some smaller venues, most without barricades, so we can bring
a real UNEARTH show to the people. We hand picked JOB FOR A COWBOY, DESPISED
ICON and DAATH to make sure the entire bill was one that will keep the crowds
looking over their shoulders at all times. Tickets are going fast to most of the
shows, so be sure to hit up the links in the tour section of the site to get
yours before they are gone.'
'After the headlining run we come right back home for a North American tour with
DIMMU BORGIR, DEVIL DRIVER and KATAKLYSM. We haven't hit the road with DIMMU
since the 2004 Ozzfest, so it will be good to get out there and do it again in a
club setting. DEVIL DRIVER is always a great band to share the stage with and
KATAKLYSM is one of the best death metal bands around today. This tour is going
to be an unfu*kingreal diverse clash of heavy music... good times ahead. For the
summer, a handful of European festivals and a return to Japan, Australia and New
Zealand are in the works, so stay tuned for updates.'
See you all real soon, UNEARTH

support tour with Nightwish running through Scandinavia and countless headliner
shows in their home country to promote the band’s last album 'Grand Illusion',
NOCTURNAL RITES are ready to present their newest effort live this summer on
various festivals to be followed by a tour in autumn. So don’t be greedy and
join these sinners for the 8th time.

Akercocke proclaim the imminent arrival of Antichrist
British masterful dark lords Akercocke proclaim the title of their forthcoming
album to be "Antichrist". Released on Earache records on May 28th 2007 the heavy
and sinister foursome had this to say on the album's imminent arrival:
"The concept of Antichrist is wonderfully rich. It represents a supreme
opposite. The epithet of the great antagonist provided a wonderful metaphoric
framework within which to work. We have strived to make elements of the
recording as evil as possible. Creating atmospheres that are deliberately
uncomfortable.
Spurred on by a rage enhanced by the complete disgust with our recent history,
we didn't have to dig very deeply to find the malice and rancour sufficient to
evoke the spirit of violent antithesis. Antichrist is the perfect banner for a
collection of songs that are tales of opposition, sanguinary lust and the axiom
of our raison d'etre."
For a taster of these tales of opposition see Akercocke at these two very

ARCH ENEMY - Christopher Amott returns
Arch Enemy are pleased to be able to announce that original guitarist
Christopher Amott is rejoining the band with immediate effect. The band, having
finished an intense 18 month touring cycle all over the world promoting the
'Doomsday Machine' album and 'Live Apocalypse' DVD, are currently busy working
on songs for their new studio album.
Christopher surprised many by departing Arch Enemy at the end of the 'Doomsday
Machine' recording sessions in 2005, having been in the band for 10 years
(starting with Arch Enemy at age 18). Christopher followed his urge to see the
outside world and find what else is out there apart from music. Having done
that, the time is right for him to return to the fold with a newly injected bite
and focus and to resume his career.
Commenting on the re-grouping announcement he states:
'This is very exciting for me, returning to Arch Enemy as a fulltime member!
Right now we are working on our forthcoming album and I'm very pleased about the
way it's turning out. The new songs are fast and furious with lots of melody! To
all the people who sent me kind messages while I was out of the band, thank you
for your support, it helped me a lot. After this (much needed) two year break,
I'm looking forward to getting back on the road. I hope to see you all later
this year!'
Arch Enemy mastermind Michael Amott compliments his younger brother Christopher
perfectly in style and chemistry and together they have become one of the most
infamous and ripping guitar teams in extreme metal. Michael comments:
'So, we are back with my brother Christopher on guitar - it's a huge rush to
have him back playing in his signature style! He's jumped in at the end of the
songwriting process for the new album and added some of his unique spice! I feel
Christopher's playing has matured and is more precise and even faster than
before! Guitar fans are going to freak on the stuff we are getting up to on the
new album!'
The last two years have been the busiest and most successful touring campaign of
Arch Enemy’s entire career, so the many fans both old and especially new can now
look forward to witnessing Christopher’s return to the stages of the world. In
regards to Fredrik Åkesson, the Swedish guitar-wizard who has been touring with
Arch Enemy for 18 months and who can be seen on the band’s latest video clip for
the song 'My Apocalypse', Michael states:
'I want to add that we are eternally grateful to Fredrik Åkesson, who did an
outstanding job with Arch Enemy over the past 18 months while we dragged the
'Doomsday Machine' around the world a couple of times - YOU ARE FU*KING
AWESOME!'
Arch Enemy have spent the last weeks locked in intense rehearsals at their
homebase in Halmstad, Sweden, putting the final touches to the new material and
integrating Christopher on the new songs for the forthcoming studio album. More
news on this will follow in the next few days, so stay tuned…

LACUNA COIL - Megadeth featuring vocals by Cristina Scabbia
LACUNA COIL’s Cristina Scabbia didn’t only do guest-vocals for Megadeth’s "A
Tout Le Monde" (which originally appeared on the 1994 album "Youthanasia") now
retitled "A Tout Le Monde (Set Me Free)", but also participated in the video of
the song that was shot at a downtown Los Angeles studio on Thursday, March 8.
Check out pictures from the at LACUNA COIL’s Myspace Blog or watch a video clip
with some behind the scenes footage @ MySpace!
'I just shot my parts for the new Megadeth video ‘A Tout Le Monde’ in Los
Angeles, and it was a blast! I met Dave Mustaine the day before I shot my
individual parts, and it’s always amazing when you can talk with an artist who
has been around in the music scene for so long and is still down to earth. Dave
was nothing but kind to me.
It was such an honor to collaborate on the song, and then to be asked to
participate in the video shoot was simply unbelievable. I always loved the
original version of the song, but what a lot of people don’t know is that this
is an entirely new version. It’s more rockin’ and powerful.
Now I totally understand why they decided to remake the song, for even though
the original was already amazing, this new version brings more to the table. I
did my best to play up my ‘acting skills’ the best I could. It was definitely
funny to play the part.
You’ll soon see what I mean. It’s going
to be great. I’m sure you’ll have as much fun watching this video as I had
playing my character when you’ll see the final cut. And these are the last words
I’ll ever speak, and they’ll set me free. // Cristina Scabbia'
"A Tout Le Monde (Set Me Free)" will appear on Megadeth's new album, "United
Abominations".
After finalizing a video-clip for 'Within Me' the band will embark on the latest
installment of the Jägermeister Music Tour alongside Stone Sour and Shadows
Fall. The trek, which kicks off on March 23rd and runs through early May, is the
group’s fourth U.S. run in support of their 'Karmacode' album. Before playing a
few selected festivals in Europe they will do their own US headlining tour with
the motto 'The Hottest Women In Metal" together with Within Temptation, In This

ENTOMBED added To ONSLAUGHT, SUSPERIA Gig In London
Long-running Swedish metallers ENTOMBED have been added to the May 7 concert at
the Underworld in London, England featuring ONSLAUGHT and SUSPERIA.
ENTOMBED will release its new album, "Serpent Saints - The Ten Amendments", in
Germany on July 13 through Threeman Recordings via a special arrangement with
Candlelight Records. The 10-song effort will mark the group's first release with
drummer Olle Dahlstedt (Alpha Safari, ex-Misery Loves Co.), who replaced Peter
Stjärnvind in 2006.
The band has also scheduled a special showcase gig on May 3 at the Ballroom in
Hamburg, Germany. Songtitles set to appear on the new CD include "In the Blood"
and "The Dead, The Dying and the Dying to be Dead". Mastering duties will take
place at the end of the month with Soren Elofsson at Cosmos Mastering in
Stockholm, Sweden.
With regards to the musical direction of the new album, the band previously
said, "'Serpents Saints' goes wider and deeper than the 'When In Sodom' EP but
it's a pretty good indicator. It's no concept album but an ambitious attempt at
creating a solid album with some recurring themes. Almost like the soundtrack to
the film with the same name."

Amazing new album from Norways OCTAVIA SPERATI, distant and haunting melodies
grace this chillingly atmospheric doom masterpiece
This is the second album from growing Norwegian metal band Octavia. The album
was produced by Herbrand Larsen and Arve Isdal (Enslaved/Audrey Horne) and
features guest appearance from Morfeus (Limbonic Art). Terrorizer Magazine voted
this Bergen-based band one of its 'Top 10 Newcomer Acts' of 2005 with the
release of their debut, "Winter Enclosure".
Returning with "Grace Submerged", OCTAVIA SPERATI look to push forward their
doom/gothic blended metal expanding an already loyal worldwide fanbase. With
'Guilty Am I' already included on several pre-release samplers and talks already
ongoing for the band’s first American tour the album is a year-long
developmental priority for Candlelight. The CD includes bonus multimedia
features, the video for "Moonlight', wallpapers and a photo gallery.
Formed in 2000 OCTAVIA SPERATI have honned their skills performing/touring with

ARCH ENEMY - Recording new album / band checks in from the studio
After having announced the return of original guitarist Christopher Amott, ARCH
ENEMY are now busy with the recordings of the much anticipated follow-up to the
band’s most successful album to date 'Doomsday Machine' (2005).
The band is currently working on their next metal, yet not titled masterpiece
with producer Fredrik Nordström at Sweden’s Studio Fredman, where the band
actually recorded all their early albums up to 'Wages Of Sin' (2001). ARCH ENEMY
drummer Daniel Erlandsson checks in with an update on the recording process:
'Greetings all Arch Enemies!
As you might know we are currently recording our new album in Studio Fredman/Sweden.
It's been a very smooth ride so far, working with engineers Fredrik and Patrik
has been fantastic - these guys are pros!
Anyway, all the drum tracks are now completed. We recorded a total of 11 new
ARCH ENEMY tracks plus some other extras that I'm sure you will hear about at a
later point.
The new songs are very fresh at this moment. The new material is very varied,
some songs are faster and more extreme than before while some songs are very
heavy and melodic - but they all have the ARCH ENEMY imprint in capital letters!
I have no doubt that these songs will please those who like to bang their heads
to the sound of pure fu*king metal!
Check out the pictures from the studio! /Daniel'
Furthermore, ARCH ENEMY has been confirmed to headline this year’s Up From The
Ground Festival in Gemuenden, Germany (see www.uftg.de for detailed info),
taking place August 24-25, 2007.
Stay tuned for more studio updates in the next days!

SENTENCED - Guitarist starts merchandising company
Many have been wondering what happened to the individual members of SENTENCED
after the band was buried in 2005. Singer Ville Laihiala is focusing on
POISONBLACK who released their second album 'Lust Stained Despair' in August
2006 and toured Europe with their labelmates Lacuna Coil right afterwards. In
the meantime guitarist Sami Lopakka has started a merchandising company which he
introduced at the Finnish Metal Expo 2007 where SENTENCED also received their
gold-DVD for the overwhelming success of 'Buried Alive' in Finland.
Check out the info underneath about Northern Tribe:
'Located just below the Arctic Circle in Finland, Northern Tribe creates full
