Tour will start from Norway's Karmøygeddon Metal Festival on 25th of April. Caravan goes through Norway, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and The Netherlands. Tour will end 14th of May in Tilburg, Netherlands. Other support act on the tour is Manticora from Denmark. MASTERSTROKE's second album "Sleep" was released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on week 4. Album is already available world wide, excluding Japan where it will be released during March through Art Union. Since the release of "Sleep" in November 2007 MASTERSTROKE guys have dominated the stages with their catchy and atmospheric heavy metal music! Of course it was fake cameras, but they looked pretty real. While we were preparing the observation of the local branch office of a well-known fast food company, four police officers approached us and asked us what we were doing. Apparently worried citizens had called the cops telling them something suspicious was going on. I asked them if those "worried citizens" really meant us as there are many suspicious people walking around in the city of Leipzig! One of the policemen thought this was funny, another was seriously pissed off and the remaining two cops did not seem to get the joke, I think. Afterwards they got a little rougher and threatened to take us into custody. We were basically left with two options: Either we could shoot them down and bail, or simply solve the situation by showing them the camera man's press card, what we eventually did. After the officers had contacted the police station and double-checked with their chief they let us go. Of course we were smart enough to secretly film the incident and it will always be a highly entertaining part of our private video collection. Unfortunately, we can not post it, but anyway once again we were almost arrested, but you have to take risks if you want to be metal!" I think there's a lot of cool guitar stuff all over the album and generally this is a more guitar-oriented effort. Our influences draw from Thin Lizzy to Black Sabbath and Megadeth and you can clearly hear that on the riffs and guitar melodies. Songwriting-wise I think all songs are special and once again everyone was involved in the writing - we basically kept the Allegiance "winning team" together. Thus, we once again recorded and mixed @ Studio Fredman in Sweden. Fredrik really knows the sounds we're after and delivers it in no time! We tried a few different things in the engineering this time - mainly with the drums and guitars and I feel we have a pretty tight, bone crushing Metal sound. As for surprises we decided to cover the 80s pop smash hit, "Maniac", not because we're such lovers of the film "Flashdance", but because it's a kick ass song, period. We promise to come back and make it up for real! http://www.bornfrompain.com Metal Blade Records signs Worldwide deal with ANIMA Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the signing of the German extreme metal outfit ANIMA. ANIMA formed in the summer of 2005 under the name of Metmachines, but soon after renamed the band into Today Heaven´s Dying until they decided on ANIMA as a band name. The band has played a large number of shows until now, gaining a lot more experience. In the summer of 2006 the group started recording their debut CD entitled "Souls of the Decedents" at 138 Studios in Ellrich. The album secured the band their first deal with All Life Ends Records. "The Daily Grind" was the title of the next MCD to be released in the fall of 2007, which was set to include five songs recorded, mixed and mastered at Slaughter's palace and Rape of Harmonies studios. However, the CD was never released. Shortly after posting the first songs on MySpace the band gained interest from Metal Blade Records to everyone's excitement and amazement. "ANIMA is one of the most promising bands to rise from the European underground. Considering the quality of their songs it´s hard to believe all the band members are just between 16 and 19 years old" comments A&R Andreas Reissnauer of the European Metal Blade department. The gala show will be held after the awards ceremony at the Scandinavian Congress Centre. According to the group, "the gig will be somewhat different than the usual DIABLO SWING ORCHESTRA gig. It will be divided in two sets with a break in between. The first half we'll be concentrating on some calmer, classical-inspired music and the second will be a full-blown set with the difference that we'll be bringing some reinforcements along in the shape of a small horn section from the opera house of Karlstad, Sweden along with us. So it will be a cool night for sure! This will be a chance to play some new material live as well as trying some of the older stuff in a rearranged shape." Guitarist Torstein of the Norwegian progressive extreme metallers ANSUR has issued the following update "The new [ANSUR] album isn't only finished, it's mastered too (by Tailor Maid, Sweden). The [CD] contains seven songs with a total running time of 61:47. "I don't want to give too much away, but in a couple of days we will go public with new album details, cover art and much more! This is gonna be pretty exciting people, so stay tuned!" The follow-up to 2006's "Axiom" is due later in the year via Nocturnal Art Productions/Candlelight Records. CRIONICS 2007 Summary "Without doubt, year 2007 was the most hard-working and decisive period during band's career. It was because of releasing new album - "Neuthrone", intense promotional work - touring mainly, and our involving in other projects, focused on music obviously. First term of last year was dedicated for finishing our new, long-looking forward album, so we worked on last corrections and mixes of the material in Zed Studio. During that time we also were making our first videoclip for "Humanmeat Cargo" that was included in "Neuthrone" and proudly promoted it in all the world. We played on first edition of 'Rebel Angles Tour' in May, so we had first opportunity to present some new songs from forthcoming album and check their power live. July was time of awaiting for releasing of new record in Poland, Europe, USA, South America, Japan and Australia and first promotional activities that were the effect of productive colaboration with our label, Candlelight Records. The partnership, that become direct, qicken at last and their engagement surprised us very positively. In August we played on "Red Alert Open Air" in Crimea, where we directly supported headliners of the fest - Immolation and Vader. We spent September on "Northern Assassination Tour" when together with Rotting Christ, Krisiun and Incantation were performing for maniax of Baltic and Scandinavian countries and Northern Germany. Next month and next days on tour - very good welcomed gigs in Russia, this time with Decapitated. Great atmosphere between bands and very good organisation of the tour made it one of the best both bads participated in as we used to say, until it's unexpected tragic end... In our van's accident that happened at exact finish of "Extreme Hallucinosis Eastern Tour" Vitek, the drummer of Decapitated died, and Covan, the vocalist got seriuos head injuries and is still being hospitalized. We retured to Poland, still shocked with last tragic experiences which ingrained in our minds but we had to move forward... Second edition of "Rebel Angels Tour" closed series of at total 20 concerts in biggest cities in our country. This result satisfied us a lot because just a few bands are able to play so many gigs in various places in Poland and these tours very rarely are professionally organized... So, we want to thank Creative Music that we are cooperating with, company that seems to be experienced and worth of confidence. In December, we played charity concert for families of Vitek and Covan, this performance finished tens of new album's promotional gigs we played in 2007. Finally, we have to mention about some strange politics' movements. Their decisions, deprived of any sense and lawful argumantation caused cancellation of our and other Polish bands' gigs, placing maniax of extreme music as well as it's musicians on unfavourable position... Summarize, year 2007 was very intense for us, fraught with events that made us walking into new year tall, made our plans for 2008 wider and more demanding. It also was full of things that shouldn't happen, which tragically verified our considering of some occurrences but at the same time made us stronger." Regarding the new CD's musical direction, bassist Lee Barrett said, "All the elements present on [last year's "Transcendental"] have been greatly expanded upon. OMNIUM GATHERUM To Enter Studio In March "OMNIUM GATHERUM will begin to record the fourth magnum opus extravaganza in March and this time the album will be done in three different studios; recordings will be done at Sound Supreme Studios by Janne Saksa and at SouthEastSounds by Teemu Aalto and the mixing and mastering will be done at legendary Unisound Studio at Örebro, Sweden by Dan Swanö (Nightingale, ex-Edge Of Sanity, Bloodbath, etc.) who's produced the albums for Opeth, Katatonia and Dissection, for example. So, we could say that we're really enthusiastic about this, surprise! First time the album composing process have been really easy task and this pure fresh spirit can really be heard from the songs. The next level have been entered, so beware folks - autumn 2008 will be time for The OG Invasion!" OMNIUM GATHERUM last year parted ways with bassist Janne Markkanen and replaced him with Eerik Purdon (Crystal Blaze, Amoral). The band's latest album, "Stuck Here on Snakes Way", entered the Finnish chart at position No. 31. The CD, which was released on 2nd April, 2007 via Candlelight Records (one day later in North America), was recorded during November-December 2006 at Southeast Studios in Karhula, Finland with producer Teemu Aalto. It seems that DEATHCHAIN is going to be pretty busy on that matter. That means months away from Finland and for me, also months away from my day job. In my current situation in life, that job is something I just can't afford to lose. Especially when doing tours as a support, usually there's no income of any kind and for me that situation is financially impossible. It's not fair that the whole band would be held back just because of me. Furthermore, I totally agree with the rest of the band that using someone to replace me on tours is totally lame and just plain stupid. Either you're in, or you're out and I'm sad to announce that under these circumstances, I am out of DEATHCHAIN. This is probably the hardest decision I've ever made. We have done three albums and over 100 shows all around Europe, I've made a lots of friends on our gigs and met great bands, not to mention the fellow band members who have become one of my best friends. After a brief rest, the band went right back into the studio over the weekend to record some extra tracks that had developed over the course of their FEED THE BEAST sessions. "We made these songs up in the studio while we were over in Sacramento;" recalls BONDED BY BLOOD vocalist, Jose "Aladdin" Barrales. "We'd be sitting around playing video games and all of a sudden, these riffs and licks would come to us." By the time that the band had grown more comfortable with the surplus of new material they'd quickly created, their time in the studio was already up. However, with persistence, the band got approval to hit the studio a 2nd time just to record the new extra tracks for inclusion elsewhere. "I know that these songs aren't going to be ready for FEED THE BEAST," says Aladdin, "but the important thing is that we recorded 'em while we still had the energy carrying over from the first session." Absolute Punk.net Misery Signals has announced that they will be stepping into the studio this week to begin the recording process for their third Ferret Music full length, album title TBA. The band will be recording with Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad, Darkest Hour, Soilwork), and are excited about working with him again, tells bassist Kyle Johnson, "Devin has this awesome new set-up and new gear, so that's exciting. Recording with him is a good experience, and we intend on using him as producer as well. He always makes great contributions and suggestions to the songs, and he is really understanding about what kind of sound we are going for." Townsend himself is gearing up for a momentous experience, saying that "This is gonna be a record that brings the band to a new level. The rock will continue to roll in a fastidious way." The band is well along in the process of writing, tells Johnson, "Musically the songs are written, but lyrically we are still writing. Basically, we took both records and put them together, with a new sound mixed in as well. This will be a little more straightforward than the last two albums, and for the most part it's influenced by what we are into personally. It's definitely more something that has parts that you can hold onto and that are memorable." This is the band's second album recorded with vocalist Karl Shubach, and he is happy to have comfortably settled into his role. "I feel like it's my band now, it's not Misery Signals plus Karl and I'm much more comfortable being part of what we represent. I also feel like music is more of my own, and I'm psyched about the new record, it's got a lot of elements that weren't in last one, a lot of parts that are just heavier with a lot of off-time polyrhythm like Meshuggah." The band is currently recording in their hometown of Oakland, CA with good friend Sam Pura (North, Strata, Seize the Night), who did the EP that caught the attention of their New Weathermen home. The band has spent the past few months completing the new material, and Robbie would describe it as, "The Beach Boys on acid, basically. We really incorporate a surf rock, spacey vibe, and it's not as breakdown-oriented. It's still heavy, don't get me wrong, but this one will definitely exceed a half an hour in running time." This is a big deal to the band, who are proud of the progression they have made from their debut, tells Robbie, "I felt like the recording of the last album was really rushed, and we weren't 100% ready to enter the studio. This album is much more us because it embodies all the differences and quirks in each of our personalities. We all sat down and wrote it together, and it shows: it's totally a collaborative process, a combination of all of our personal styles rolled into one." Regardless of what the band says about their 2006 New Weathermen debut Everything's Watched, Everyone's Watching, fans and media were quite taken with the album. Alternative Press profiled the group as a "Band To Watch" and Outburn said that they "may be the band to usher in a new era of hardcore music." Web media added in on the roaring praise with premier heavy music site Paste Punk.com calling the album, "an aural attack on the listener as the band combines the frenetic nature of spazzy post-hardcore with the more streamlined appeal of metalcore. Underneath it all lies a technical prowess that often shows itself when the band opts to go the extra minute." After they finish up recording, the band will eagerly be heading back out on the road. Their last tour was a headlining run in November with Foxy Shazam, Tero Melos and Dance Gavin Dance. AMENTI - JOIN DARKWAVE ART Amenti (pronounced Ah-Men-Tie) carry a timeless message with them that spans the course of generations of pain fuelled by the hell we live in. Lyrically and emotionally Amenti convey a message that is much older than their tender years. Theirs is the music of war, Nihilistic, Anarchistic and yet always infused with messages of hope, Amenti portray a vision of a world torn apart by greed, jealousy and human nature, and yet a world that can be regained, if we sit up and take notice. 2007 saw Amenti release there first album titled 'Under The Dying Sun'. Originally scheduled for release under Hangmans Joke Records, however tragically before the album could be released founder of Hangmans Joke Records passed away after taking his own life. Deeply saddened by this turn of events and with the album behind the release schedule Amenti self funded the pressing of the album rather then trying to find another label on such short notice. Under The Dying Sun was then released on 31/10/07. In September 07 Amenti were hand picked to play on The Flaming Arts Festival, the first ever touring festival to tour through Russia and neighbouring country Belarus. The line-up included Polish Death Metallers Vader Greek Metallers Rotting Christ, as well as Krisiun, Incantation and Italian band Riul Doamnei. This was Amenti's first ever tour. Soon after Amenti played main stage 'Defenders of the Faith' at Metal Hammers Hard Rock Hell Festival sharing the stage with Cradle of Filth, My Dying Bride and Chthonic, with Twisted Sister and Saxon playing the Classic Rock Stage. 2007 ended with a boom after touring with UK Thrash Legends Onslaught and German Thrash Legends Destruction. "I'm currently doing the final mixes for this album, and hope to have everything ready for mastering within a couple of weeks," says Ihsahn. "Musically this album can be seen as a natural progression from 'The Adversary' [2006], but with a somewhat heavier touch." "The Adversary" entered the Norwegian album chart at position no. 33. The record, originally slated for release on April 29th, marks 36 Crazyfists' Ferret Music debut. The Tide And Its Takers is produced by guitarist Steve Holt and mixed by the venerable and prolific Andy Sneap (Testament, Machine Head, Chimaira). 36 Crazyfists were just in Alaska filming the music video for the album's first single, "We Gave It Hell." THE TIDE AND ITS TAKERS is due out on FERRET on May 28th 2008 LIGEIA BEGIN WORK ON NEW ALBUM PRODUCED BY KEN SUSI (UNEARTH) Ferret Music artists, LIGEIA have begun work on their sophomore full-length to be titled BAD NEWS. As with their debut, the Producers chair is filled by KEN SUSI (of Unearth). A Spring / Summer release date will be announced shortly. I was introduced to them by our first label, Willowtip. When Mark and Mike presented us with our new band logo, we were like, Sweeeeet!" I wanted to keep working with them because of their detail and their pen-and-ink approach, not because they're obsessed with corpses and maggots. As far as the new album's artwork, they matched what We Are The Nightmare is about in the sense that my lyrics and music are always very dark, much like their art is. We have an important show this Friday at the Finnish Metal Expo (FIN) and two lengthy tours in UK/Europe and USA just around the corner - but no accordion player. The thing is, we played a cool show in Groningen, Netherlands on January 11th and everything was cool.
