RAGE - to introduce new drummer
German metal institution RAGE found a replacement for ex-drummer Mike Terrana
quite quickly. "We proudly present our new man on the drums, André Hilgers.
While working on the Nuclear Blast Anniversary album we were very surprised how
perfectly André`s style matched our new song "Terrified". So it was obvious that
we jammed through the RAGE classics, and the sparks were flying immediately.
Andre had a lot of new ideas that fit our style perfectly and he brings a
lot of fresh blood and power to the band. We have loads of fun again playing our
music", Peavy and Victor had to say. The new drummer is equally thrilled: "Of
course I was very happy regarding the request of the guys, and it's a great
honour belonging to RAGE now after drummers like Jörg Michael, Efti or Mike
Terrana, lambasting the kettles.
Meanwhile, we've started rehearsing and we will present you a great show in
Illingen, with some real highlights of the RAGE history. I would like to wish
Mike good luck with Masterplan and his next projects. As for me, he's still a
great drummer who was always raising the stakes for me", André Hilgers
commented.
Monstrosity News
Veteran death metallers MONSTROSITY have set "Spiritual Apocalypse" as the title
of their new album, tentatively due in April of 2007. The follow-up to 2003's

"a lot faster," according to a posting on the group's web site.

POWERWOLF have entered the studio (at top secret location - simply to avoid
having deranged groupies camping outside the studio) to record their second
album! "After some exhausting weeks of composing and decomposing tunes of blood
and madness we're now almost finished with the songwriting. Two or three songs
need to get final treatments! The production started on January 2nd, and you can
follow the wolves' trail in form of a studio blog." Click here to get the latest

ARSIS - Sign with Nuclear Blast
ARSIS SIGNS WORLDWIDE DEAL WITH NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS
When it comes to seminal death metal bands from North America, the East Coast
alone can boast the likes of the genre's greatest staples such as Cannibal
Corpse, Immolation, Death, Morbid Angel, and Nile. With West Virginia's legacy
of being the only state formed as a direct result of the American Civil War,
it's no wonder that ARSIS have continued this tide of insurgence - albeit in the
musical realm.
The band, which derived its name from the musical phrase "arsis and thesis"
meaning unstressed (up-) and stressed (down-) beats respectively, is righteously
tinged with black & thrash metal influences but is completely dedicated to
expanding the reaches of melodicism and technicality in the genre of death
metal.
Checking-in from their current tour with God Forbid, Mnemic, and Goatwhore,
founding member/guitarist/bassist/lead vocalist and former Berklee College of
Music student James Malone has this to say about the newly-inked worldwide
collaboration with Nuclear Blast Records:
"Since the conception of ARSIS, I hoped to see the band as a part of the Nuclear
Blast roster. Four years later, this is now a reality. I expect great things
this coming year; the band is now a four piece, solid tours are on the way, and
we have a fantastic label behind us 100%. I am more excited now about the
potential of the band than I have ever been."
All of the ARSIS recordings (which include two demos, one EP, and two
full-length albums) have won them many fans among the metal underground, the
metal press, and metal musicians themselves. Their 2004 debut, A Celebration Of
Guilt, was praised to hell and back by Revolver Magazine as "the best in the
genre since At The Gates' legendary swan song [Slaughter Of The Soul]."
Given their current momentum in support of their latest album, United In Regret,
and with, as Malone states, "our most brutal release coming in 2008," ARSIS are
well on their way to making their discography absolutely essential for any fan
with an extreme music library.

LOST EDEN sign to Candlelight Records
Japan's LOST EDEN came together in 2000 when Norio(Vocals), Adachi(Guitar),
Run(Guitar), Daisuke(Bass), Chang(Drums) decided to form a hardcore/metal group.
The band's first milestone was in 2002 when they had two songs included on the
compilation album "SURPLUS SUPPRESSION 3".
n the spring of 2003, Sensyu joined as their new drummer, and Chang switched
to guitar. This new 3 guitar line up immediately hit the studio to record their
debut single "SEWN MOUTH FOREST" as they continued to fuse their metallic
hardcore sound with black and death metal elements. This release was followed by
extensive national touring.
In 2004, LOST EDEN included a track on the compilation CD "METAL OSTENTATION
Vol.6" At the same time, Chang left the band, and Cab joined as a new guitarist.
This signalled the next stage in the LOST EDEN's musical development, becoming
more melodic, but at the same time more aggressive.
2005 saw the band continue to contribute to various compilation albums with
tracks appearing on "EATTHQUAKE A.G.M" and "EXTREME GENERATION". After that, Cab
left & Mako replaced Sensyu behind the kit. This forced the band back to a 2
guitar formation, which they have used since. In the winter of that year, they
recorded a new 2-track demo CD.
On the recording, the band began to experiment with keyboards to add another
dimension to their sound. The demo was sent to London based metal label
Candlelight..
In early 2006, LOST EDEN signed a contract with Candlelight Records and work
began on their debut album "CYCLE REPEATS" at SPLASH studios in Japan during the
autumn of that year.
For fans of In Flames, Soilwork and Trivium, Japan's best kept metal
secret!!!
Line-up:
Norio - Vocals
Hiroshi Adachi - Guitars & Electronics
Run - Guitars
Daisuke - Bass
Mako - Drums

AMON AMARTH news update
"The last two months have been hectic, but we've had a blast. The headlining
tour in Europe went over expectations and we'd like to thank WINTERSUN and TYR,
as well as our European crew and of course everyone who came to the shows. Hope
you enjoyed it as much as we did!
After the last show in Hamburg we flew straight to Detroit to join CHILDREN OF
BODOM, GOJIRA and SANCTITY on the North American leg of the tour and although it
was taxing and with some off stage problems, the tour was nothing but awesome
and successful for us! It was great to see the support we got every night and we
want to thank you fans for that."
"We've been home resting over the holidays and still have some time off from the
band. Later this month it's time to start preparing for the Scandinavian leg,
and on the 25th we'll start shooting the second video for the new album. For
that we've chosen 'Cry of the Blackbirds'."

JOB FOR A COWBOY announces newest addition, drummer Jon Rice
Job For A Cowboy is proud to announce the latest addition to the line-up, Jon
"The Charn" Rice! Jon has been playing drums for about 7 years. After completing
a year at Capital's Conservatory of Music, majoring in Music Business with a
focus on Percussion, Jon left to pursue a career in music.
JFAC guitarist, Ravi Bhadriraju had this to say about his new band mate:
"Jon's Badass. His demo was awesome and we felt that after meeting and talking
to other drummers that his personality fit best with ours. In addition to an
awesome drummer, we needed someone who wants what we want and that is to tour as
much as possible and he is down with that. We have no plans to stop and I'm glad
we get to do that with the comfort of knowing we brought the right dude with us
and that he feels the same."
New drummer, Jon agrees:
"For me it's a dream come true. It's one of those things where you take a
chance and send a demo over and then your life is changed. I'm really looking
forward to living on the road. I've lived in Pittsburgh forever and starting in
a few weeks I will be living the dream and seeing the world."
Job For A Cowboy just recently completed work on their Metal Blade Records debut
which will be out in the Spring/Summer of 2007. Don´t miss JOB FOR A COWBOY on
their European tour in support of Unearth!

MIDDIAN - Age Eternal
MIDDIAN – featuring Mike Scheidt, former band leader of YOB – are about to
release their debut album "Age Eternal" on March, 23rd (G/A/S), March, 26th
(Europe).
MIDDIAN is:
Mike S-guitar and vox
Will Lindsay-bass and vocals
Scott Headrick-drums
Mike Scheidt about the end of YOB:
"After YOB got back home from our last tour in 2005, it became very obvious that
our individual goals in the band had changed. Travis Foster and Isamu Sato both
left the band after we explored options for keeping YOB together.
Neither of them had the stomach for touring anymore, and I knew I wanted to keep
touring and moving forward. After about 8 months of thought as whether to
continue with what would be YOB's 5th line-up after Isamu and Travis left, and
after trying out some fine musicians, I decided to let YOB go."
Mike Scheidt about MIDDIAN:
"So I decided to start a new band: very much in the vein of YOB, but more angry
and mid-paced on average, but still with roots in slow DOOM and the cosmic vibe
that was a part of YOB. MIDDIAN is that band. In my mind I was already thinking
about who I was going to approach for a rhythm section: My
friends Will Lindsay on bass and Scott Headrick on drums. They are both very
experienced musicians who, while having roots in extreme music, neither had
played DOOM influenced music before. I wanted a fresh take on the riffs I was
writing. Luckily they were both into it, and we have been having a
blast ever since."
Mike Scheidt about "Age Eternal":
"Age Eternal is our first album together, and we are very happy with it overall.
It is a solid first album for us and is setting the blueprint for what we do:
DOOM and stoner influenced HEAVY music without it being either.
It has lots of lurching faster riffs and chord melody not unlike YOB, but yet it
is different. It is more urgent, straight-forward, and punk influenced in many
ways, and our bassist Will shares vocal duties with me. The band is extremely
collaborative even though I write the tunes thus far. We all have strong ideas
and opinions that mesh very well and it culminated in Age Eternal. Plus there is
guest vocals from Ben Ward of Orange Goblin on the last song "Sink To The Center"
and noise samples from The Monsters Of Pot from Minneapolis, Minnesota. We are
very proud to have our first album released by Metal Blade Records."
Tracklisting "Age Eternal":
Dreamless Eye
The Blood Of Icons
Age Eternal
The Celebrant
Sink To The Center

CATARACT line-up change
CATARACT and guitarist Simon part ways…
"Dear Cataractians, we have some rather big news for you all. We've had several
discussions between different members about our future concerning music, shape,
form and structure of Cataract and of course the year lying ahead.
And, after a final meeting this Friday, we agreed to disagree - our founding
member Simon decided to part ways with Cataract to pursue his own projects,
which you will run across sooner or later. We had nine incredible years and all
of us will remember the times we had. We are parting in peace as we all agreed
that this is the best way for both sides."
Simon says the following to his departure: "Sometimes you come to a cross road
in life where there is only one way to go. I choose the path of facing a new
personal and musical challenge. I have been part of this band as a founding
member for nearly 8 1/2 years.
I am thankful for the great experiences I have made and for all the old
friends, new friends, promoters, journalists and tons more - you know who you
are - I met over the years through the band. I want to thank all bandmembers -
previous and past - that shared a vision. I wish Cataract all the best."
"We have decided to take a break until we worked out all the band bizness and
we'll use the time to evaluate Simon's successor. Unfortunately we had to cancel
the show in Aarau but we will make up for it as soon as we're a five piece
again.
All other shows (we will add them soon) are still hot and will happen. If
you have any questions, contact us. Of course we're looking for a new guitarist
now, we will make another posting with our ideas and requirements in short time.
If you already think you have got "it" then contact us at
info@cataract.cc
Simon, all the best on your way, we all know you will make it!"
