1. What are you currently up
to? |
Touring with Grand Funk Railroad, doing some KISS expos and supporting my latest solo disc, Transformer.
2.
What has been the highlight(s) and lowpoints(s) of your career to date?
Well KISS was of course amazing, had some struggles with my band UNION, but all in all, I am blessed.
3. How did you first get into the music business? Who have been your
main influences on your career to date?
All my friends loved me playing guitar, and told me to pursue it.
They were right. The Beatles, Led Zep, Hendrix, Cream, Jeff Beck,
Van Halen, all influences for me. Love also artists like Joni
Mitchell, and some Jazz artists.. so I listen to varied things.
4. Your new solo album, 'Transformer' has just come out. Could you
take us through some of your personal highlights please?
I wrote the entire disc, and some of it is quite personal. Had a great time getting the ideas from a $30 tape recorder to bringing it
all alive with tones of guitars and big drums. Very happy with the disc. Only took 5 weeks to record and finish.
5. Did Kiss know that 'Revenge' was going to be as special as the
older records when you were writing it?
Having Bob Ezrin involved who is such a great producer, I knew the disc could be special and it is.
6. What do you think of the never ending Kiss 'farewell' tours? What
was your live highlight(s) with the band?
Well, they love playing (the same songs over and over again!!!) and as long as the fans will pay they will continue. We played for over
100,000 people in the UK back in 1988. That was a blast. Playing Madison Square Garden was a thrill as well, as I saw Led Zep there.
being in Japan, Argentina and treated like I was in the Beatles!!
7. You're in Grand Funk Railroad now. How did you come to hook-up
with them and what has been the fans' reaction to the line-up?
Don Brewer's wife Sunny, is an old friend and she knew I would fit great. She was right, and I love working with them. The fans at first
had to get used to GFR without Farner, and once they saw and heard us, they really came to support the band.
8. (Q from John Kilvin) Are we going to hear another Union record
ever again? What's your favorite Union song (with mine being 'Everything's Alright')?
A live DVD will come out this year. I love all the music with UNION. There will be a song that was never released on the DVD.
9. What do you do in your spare time outside of music?
Movies, dinner with friends, guitar stores, relaxing with my dog. Long walks with him. Meet nature and other dog lovers that way!
10. Message to your fans...
Thank you for the support, and please check on my site for all things KULICK!!
