1. What are you currently up
to? |
We are about to release our new album ''Sunshine Hill''. We are
going right back in studio to work on another album follow by a
possible tour in May.
|
2. Who is/were your
influences? |
The biggest is Neil Peart for his perseverence. Never gave up even
after some terrible experiences of life.
|
3. Brief history of the band plus the style of music you play.
|
Neural Mass was formed as Bonehead in Montreal, Canada in 1991. In
1995 we changed name to Neural Mass because Bonehead was used by
several bands. We have recorded 3 albums since then. Our music can be
describe as Progressive rock with an heavy and alternative edge.
|
4. What do you think of the current state of radio and the live music
scene? |
We have a good response from underground stations specially
students radios in Canada and U.S..A big part of our airplay is from
the internet stations too. Internet offer the possibility to reach an
specific audience wich is important for us because we make
progressive rock music and that music is pretty much ignore by
commercial radios.
|
5. What has been the highlight(s) and lowpoint(s) of your career to date?
|
The best highlight is when we bought our new computer and be able
to record by ourselves ! The lowpoint is surely our 2 year break-up
in 1997.
|
6. Who have you toured with and would like to tour with in the future?
|
We did'nt have the opportunity to make a real tour yet. We've
only played around Montreal with different bands in the past ten
years. We are working hard to set-up a tour for 2003. Touring with
Planet X, Pain of Salvation, Primus for example would be wonderful!
|
7.
If you could create a fantasy band - what would be the line-up and
why?
|
Drums: Terry Bozzio Guitar: Steve Vai Bass: Les Claypool Keyboards: Keith Emerson
Vocals: Peter Gabriel I'm not sure that they can all fit together but it's surely my dream
line-up.
|
8. Any other bands/artists you would recommend checking out? |
I can suggest but you'll probebly know them! : Planet-X, Ozric
Tentacles, I.Q., Spoke's Beard, Dream Theater, Messugha and many
others...
|
9. Could you please take us through some of the personal highlights of
the new CD? |
Sunshine Hill is our most progressive album yet. The album offers
different moods and styles merged in a progressive outfit...!
