Black # 5 ‘Nine Floors High’ (2003)

The second EP from these UK rockers (and Rising Stars!), who have been active on the live scene recently. The three songs on here further build on the debut EP. ‘Armies’ is a catchy rocker, with a mean guitar riff and strong vocals from Neil Muralee. ‘Billy Pilgrim’s Progress’ is another uptempo song but not a patch on ‘Armies’. Closing the EP is ‘Sell Your Real’, which mixes light and shade, with some real Sabbath style riffing from Phil Collingwood. A band stepped in classic rock influences and a healthy dose of modern influences, one of the brightest hopes in the current UK rock scene.
