Ten Questions with...

JAMIE MOSES

Guitarist Jamie Moses has played with many giants of rock including Queen's Brian May, the all star SAS Band & Paul Young.

1. What are you currently up to?

We're doing some dates with Los Pacaminos, mostly UK (go to www.jamiemoses.com/gigs.htm) and we have an album that we're promoting.

With the SAS band we start recording the pilot for an SAS Band TV show on April 29th - watch this space!

Then there's a Paul Young UK tour which starts around May 6th and I'm doing occasional gigs with Bob Geldof.

And when I've got a day off I'm giving guitar tuition or doing solo, unplanned gigs. Phew!

2. What has been the highlight(s) and lowpint(s) of your career?

Playing with Brian May and with Queen is always a thrill. Brian has always been in my "top 5 guitarist ever" list. Having Paul McCartney get up with the World Famous Red Sox and sharing a mic with him at his daughter's 25th was a real thrill. We sang the Beatles' "Birthday".

The Pacaminos and the SAS Band are always HUGE fun…every time. The Party in the Park is always a great gig.

The low points have to be losing some close and dear friends and fellow band members. Cozy and "Mad" Paul Young (Mike & the Mechanics), you're in my heart.

3. Who have been your main musical influences and why?

The Beatles, Brian May, Jimi, James Brown, Credence, Sly and the Family Stone, etc, etc.

4. How did the Paul Young tour go last year? Do you enjoy the challenge of working with various artists and their different styles?

Brilliant tour! I'm very lucky to be able to play with so many talented singers and musicians and I NEVER take that for granted. Who could have a better job than this?!

5. Brian May - what was it like working with this legendary guitarist? How did the two guitar line-up work in a live environment?

Brian IS "The Gentleman of Rock". Just to hear that huge sound that he puts out makes me go all gooey! The harmony guitar thing works great, too.

6. You have been in some varied bands from the Hollies to the Pretenders. How do you go about learning the different bands songs and do you get much freedom to add your own stylings?

They send me CD's or whatever and I simply sit down and learn them. Some acts are fussier than others about how authentic they want the parts to be.

7. SAS Band - were you involved in the Christmas shows last year? How did the whole idea start off?

Yeah, I did those and lost my voice afterwards. Ten gigs in a row will do that to a guy(4 SAS, 6 Pacaminos)! The SAS Band was formed after the 1993 Brian May tour. We wanted to carry on and Brian didn't, so we got a load of our celeb mates to do the singing.

8. Who would you like to work with in the future? If you could create a fantasy band who would you have in it and why?

I'd love to work with James Taylor, Joni Mitchell and Prince. My fantasy band would be all my friends in the same group. And Jimi Hendrix.

9. Outside of business, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?

What spare time is that? Uh, I do things like answering '10 Questions with...'. And I've got a hamster. Leave it!

10. Message for your fans...

You're the absolute best and you make me feel like I'm something that I'm not special.
