Ten Questions with...

BRUCE GOWDY

Bruce Gowdy has been involved with many artists including World Trade, Fergie Frederiksen (ex-Toto)and Unruly Child. The third Unruly Child album has just been released by Frontiers Records.

I was introduced by Chuck Wright, and Philip was looking for a producer, and we ended up writing 15 songs, and I also brought Guy in to write a couple songs that came out great. To play live as you know it takes money, and in LA there isn't a lot of rock clubs, but if the sitution came we would love to play, that's what we do.
1. What are you currently up to?

I'm currently working with Mercedes and Social Circus, about to complete a new album, and Guy and I have started to write for another UC IV. I also produced a band Marcus Eaton & The Lobby, doing some TV stuff, being creative.

2. What has been the highlight(s) and lowpint(s) of your career?

Highlights would be getting signed to all of my deals (Stone Fury, World Trade, Unruly Child) there all different, but good at the same time. Lowpoints , would be getting dropped.

3. Who have been your main musical influences and why?

Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Peter Frampton, Classical, late 60's to early 70's,Van Halen, Toto.

4. Why do you think Unruly Child's debut album never got the big break it deserved? Did the band ever tour on the back of its release?

The early 90's were a changing time, and we got caught in the music swing, radio stopped playing rock, and went to grunge. We did do some amazing show cases, and we played maybe, 12 showws. On the Basement Tapes the DVD shows some early performances, I thought it was pretty cool.

5. On the new album what are your personal song highlights and why?

Something, It's got a cool vibe, Bring Me Home, It's a new type of song for UC, Guy and I like to experiment with songwriting.Vertigo is really cool, rock blues.

6. How did you hook up with Philip Bardowell? What are the plans for Unruly Child this year or is it solely a studio based band now?
7. You've worked extensively with Fergie Frederiksen. How did you first meet up with him? Will you be working with him again in the future at all?

I met Fregie from Rickey Phillips, and worked on a couple records of his, he's a great singer.

8. Would the members of World Trade ever work together again, especially now as Billy Sherwood has left Yes? Are there any unreleased tracks for the band at all?

I've talked to Billy about a month ago, he's in good spirits, we would love to do another World Trade album, but again there needs to be interest, so if anybody's out there. Give us a call.

9. Outside of business, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?

More music, I'm just sick.I have a great studio, and I have fun working in it.I'm able to work when ever I want, that's a good feeling.

10. Message for your fans...

I would love to thank everybody who has keeped with up with us, we plan to do more albums, and hope you like them, Peace.
