Tina Dico is big in Denmark. Huge, in fact. And she's done it the indie way - avoiding the major labels - apart from a failed dalliance with Sony/BMG - to outsell the likes of U2 and Coldplay.
She's had brief spells in the UK, most notably collaborating with Zero 7 on 'Home' from their second album. But her experience in London was a lonely one culminating in the release of her quickly recorded and acclaimed
thirrd album 'In The Red'.
Now firmly re-established back at home, 'Count To Ten' was released there in the fall of 2007 but is now set for a UK, US and German release in February and is an album well worth researching by fans of the singer-songwriter genre.
Not a million miles away in style from the likes of Aussie Missy Higgins - stripped back acoustic based delivery with prominent sweet, but at same time heartfelt vocals, it's an accomplished and polished affair, that improves with every listen.
We chatted to Tina Dico a couple of times in 2008. This interview was our
first encounter 24.01.08.
