VAUGHN Traveller Frontiers (2007)
Danny Vaughn returns with the UK based musicians as his backing this time around including drummer Lee Morris (Ten/Paradise Lost) and guitarist Tony Marshall. Unlike previous solo releases this one sees more guitar and fewer acoustic based numbers (although the acoustic ballad 'Think Of Me In The Fall' is one of his best yet).
'Miracle Days' (complete with what sounds like bagpipes!) is good, solid opener followed by the heavy 'Badlands Rain'. Great guitar riffs on that one. This along with the title track and 'Restless Blood' tie on a lyrical theme of travelling and the free spirit.
'That's What She Says' is a neat and catchy tune that could be the single release on this album. The epic 'Death of the Tiger' sees the band stretch out a bit as the song builds nicely up top the chorus.
Danny Vaughn never lets you down musically or vocally and this album will please his fans after the harder edged music he did with Tyketto, although it has to be said he really does excel on the quieter, reflective tunes.
