RICK WAKEMAN Cirque Surreal Voiceprint (2007)

An interesting concept this, music for the most surreal circus performers to perform too. Really!

Some might say tacky, kitsch, but it's fun and it's Wakeman.

Opener 'Gnash' features Wakeman's keyboards to the fore, a fun uptempo piece, nice guitar solo too. Almost rock'n'roll.

'Balance Of Power' is a moodier piece, atmospheric. 'Static' sounds in places like a cat on hot brick, perfect for performing too. There's an element of Keith Emerson at his most playful in here.

Some of the heavier tracks are thoroughly enjoyable, but you kinda need the visuals to go with it.

Just for fun or the Wakeman fan, you'll like it.
