VAIN No Respect Gott GOTTCD018 (53:04)

This late 80s metal album features the big hair, mascara and cock-swagger of the LA scene (think G’n’R, Motley Crue) but, as the band heralded from the Bay Area (of the well known thrash scene of the same era), this album has a touch more balls than many of the big haired contemporaries.

Singer Davy Vain had even produced Death Angel, and this debut relies more on power than sing along choruses, as Beat The Bullet shows, while Who’s Watching You features a nice riff.

There’s some decent metal here, and while it’s better than the plethora of hair metal of the era, it’s not a classic. Worth a listen though.
