THE PRIMITIVES
Buzz Buzz Buzz - The Lazy Recordings

Castle CMQDD1361 (2006)

This well packaged 2CD will please many an indie fan, comprising everything the band recorded for their own Lazy label and more, and given that after a major label signing they failed to recapture early success this collection will do most.

Pop, punk, new wave and mid 80s indie, with vocalist Tracy Tracy adding a melodic approach and drawing the obvious Blondie comparisons.

Singles, B-sides, and five 86/87 live sessions (they were popular at the BBC) make for interesting and complete listening.

The music is second rate as was most 80s indie (it's what it was all about really) but it's a good and well presented set.

***** Out of this world | **** Pretty damn fine |
*** OK, approach with caution unless you are a fan |
** Instant bargain bin fodder | * Ugly. Just ugly
