RICK DERRINGER Live At Cheyney Hall Provogue PRO7195-2 (2006)

A man of many talents who has his own band too, and this 3-piece band produce a decent rock sound.

Rick provides some decent vocals and his guitar is good too, but low on the explosive solos. The riffs are good, and the music polished, at the heavy and keyboard free end of AOR.

'Don’t Stop Loving Me' and 'Guitars And Women' come over well live, and 'Still Alive And Well' adds a blues nod or two.

'Listen To The Lord' features a great catchy rock’n’roll riff, and a nice solo too, but we can do without the preaching thankyou very much.

Well mixed/produced and an enthusiastic crowd, but no great revelations here. A guaranteed fan pleaser if little else.

*** OK, approach with caution unless you are a fan |
** Instant bargain bin fodder | * Ugly. Just ugly
