REZUREX Beyond The Grave Fiend Force Records / Cargo FF024 (2006)

Californian Psychobilly band Rezurex produce a pretty unique sound, mixing rockabilly, punk and metal. The upright bass is inventive and really expands the sound; imagine the Stray Cats playing metal - it’s catchy, singalong throughout. Could be the next big thing!

Singer/guitarist Daniel deLeon (ex 45 Graverobbers, Calavera and The InSaints) leads well, and be band are bolstered by Jeff Roffredo (Calavera, Tiger Army), lead guitarist Troy Russel (Nekromantix) and drummer James Meza (Nektromantix, Tiger Army).

There’s plenty of fast picking (think a guitar led Hayseed Dixie), an original retro mix with a modern sound.

If you fancy a break from your daily drudgery, this will cheer you up, but not to be taken too seriously by rock fans.

***½
