QUECIA ‘This Is Where We Are ’ (Deep End Records 2002)

UK band (also a recent Rising Stars) with the line-up of vocalist Kirsty McCarrick, guitarist Paul Ayre, bass/keyboards player Chris Picton and drummer Roy Taylor. Definitely an album of quality rock music and one that fans of Karnataka, Fleetwood Mac and Clannad will enjoy. ‘Fight For This’ has an atmospheric start before you first hear Kirsty McCarrick’s vocals - very ethereal in style. ‘See Me Fall’ takes a pop rock approach with a catchy guitar riff and a radio friendly song if ever there was one! Acoustic ballad ‘Wrong Kind Of Love’ sees another great vocal from Kirsty, who is a real find it has to be said. Other highlights include the bluesy ‘Stay’, ‘Walk Away’ with some nimble guitar from Paul Ayre and ‘Winter’s Tale’, which features some nice keyboard touches.

A very accomplished album of quality rock tunes. Plenty of variety to keep the listener interested and the bonus of Kirsty’s vocals. Crystal clear production also adds greatly to the enjoyment of this album. I would imagine that the band are a good live.
