NIGHT RANGER Dawn Patrol Lemon CDLEM78

Back in 1982, Night Ranger released this polished debut. A solid release that had a nod of the big hair / MTV angle without completely bowing to it, the band featured some accompanied song writers, guitarists and vocalists.

Over produced, commercial in sound, it was bound to be popular, and Brad Gillis was to become a well known guitarist. He even replaced Bernie Torme in the Ozzy Osbourne band before returning to Night Ranger.

Don’t Tell Me You Love Me sets the tone well, but this album has a largely samey feel most of the way through. Some heavier guitars in Can’t Find Me A Thrill so break the monotony, but it’s largely typical of 80s American Metal.

*** OK, approach with caution unless you are a fan |
** Instant bargain bin fodder | * Ugly. Just ugly
