NERVED ‘Off Line ’MMS MMSCD009 (2005)

Swedish band Nerved have been around for a few years now and playing a very in-your-face metal. In places jagged, there’s an occasional Bay Area influence without going all out thrash. It’s full on metal alright.

From the outset there’s a Brian Johnson roughness to the vocals, and the guitar work is pretty damn good too. But no Maiden finness here, it’s too heavy for that.

Surprise number is Nazareth’s 'Expect No Mercy', featuring Manny Charlton, giving a different but enjoyable take on the Naz classic.

The sound is very solid and modern, well produced, although this does make the drums sound a little electronic.

'Intermission' is a little more electronic and mellow, but the guitars are soon back and rattling the ear drums. A change of rhythms and speeds make for varied listening that’ll keep most metal fans interested. Well worth checking out. Available form www.nerved.com
