MOTORHEAD BBC Sessions & In Concert Sanctuary (2005)

Released as part of the ongoing 30th anniversary celebrations of the band this double CD draws together sessions for the John peel show (1978), an ‘In Concert’ performance from 1979, a ‘Friday Rock Show’ session form 1986 and tracks recorded for the David ‘Kid’ Jensen show back in 1981 – the most bizarre of the lot.

Good selection of tracks as well including some lesser known gems like ‘I’ll Be Your Sister’ and ‘Like A Nightmare’. Great version of ‘Orgasmatron’ on here as well plus a spoken word version of the track by Lemmy which is really menacing when done in this way and of course Lemmy has the voice to carry this off. The sound recordings are of good quality as you’d expect being from the BBC.

If you are a fan this is a release worth investing in as it is not some cheap shoddy live ‘Best Of’ which Motorhead seem to suffer from more than most bands. Here’s to another 30 years of Motormayhem!

Review by Jason Ritchie

***** Out of this world | **** Pretty damn fine |
*** OK, approach with caution unless you are a fan |
** Instant bargain bin fodder | * Ugly. Just ugly
