KICK AXE 'Rock The World'
SPV/MTM SPVCD 085-64262 (2005)

Mid 80s MTV metal returns with a bang, if a touch clichéd (the title says it all). This revamped and reissued 3rd album adds a bonus track and a different sleeve too.

A big sound, big drums, crunching guitars, harmony vocals on the anthemic chorus, the opening title track as everything. Excellently done but nothing really new.

The Chain has an acoustic intro, while later tracks nod towards many of the bands toured with at the time, including Judas Priest. Devachan features some strong vocals

Typically the album is enjoyable to listen to a few times, but it won’t set the world alight and I couldn’t return to it that often.

***** Out of this world | **** Pretty damn fine |
*** OK, approach with caution unless you are a fan |
** Instant bargain bin fodder | * Ugly. Just ugly
