JYNXT Don't Believe Demo (2006)

Assuming you have heard of Jynxt, it will be for one of two reasons. First of all, the four siblings in the band are the children of former Fleetwood Mac guitarist, Jeremy Spencer. Second, some folks say they sound like Evanescence. So, lets dismiss both of those. The first is irrelevant, despite being plastered all over their promo bumph and website, the second is nonsense.

If anything they sound like a pumped up Garbage, but with good songs. And in singer Tally they've got a not so secret weapons who can whisper and caress, then rip your balls off with siren type howl. They've been playing together for over 5 years now, which is odd considering they're siblings, but now Nat (drums), Tally (vocals), Ben (guitarist) and Jez (DJ) have got their act together, signed to Halo Records, and might be the next big thing.

The four tracks on this demo all offer up some memorable melodies, powerful performances and a mashed up electro beat that manages to avoid falling into the trap many rock bands fall in, that of bleeping for bleeps sake. On these tunes the beats actually add to the mix and seem an integral part of the sound, rather than merely an afterthought.

There's definitely some good ideas in here and you might want to get a fix early on, so you can dismiss them after they become famous for 'having sold out'.
