GONG Acid Mothers Gong Live Tokyo
Voiceprint (2006)

Daevid Alien / Daevid Allen leads his band through a live performance of prog, space rock, experimental, and other hippy gnome irrelevance.

Plenty of noises, feedback, whisperings and bangings, not the most tuneful music around. They make Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart look positively normal.

Some tracks ('Ze Teapot Zat Exploded') are pretty good and stand out from the muddy waters.

If you're not a fan of Gong this is very heavy going but no doubt will please fans.

***** Out of this world | **** Pretty damn fine |
*** OK, approach with caution unless you are a fan |
** Instant bargain bin fodder | * Ugly. Just ugly
