GIUNTINI PROJECT Reissues Frontiers (2006)

These two albums feature some great metal that really demands checking out.

The II (Frontiers FRCD284) album I have with no info at all but listening to them, they could well be the same set; vocalist Tony Martin (Black Sabbath) is backed up with guitarist Ado Guintni, bassist Fulvio Gaslini, drummer Ezio Secomandi and keyboard player Dario Patti, with some solid production coming from former Graham Bonnet guitarist and Blackmore clone Dario Mollo.

Opener 'Sacrifice' (I'm guessing at titles here) is a solid number with some blistering guitar work.

Throughout the album the vocals are great and the guitar work excellent, touches of neoclassical and classic metal, without resorting to shred or over the top effects.

The keyboards add a Rainbow touch in a trad metal sense. ****

III (Frontiers FRCD274) continues in a similar upbeat fashion, with opener 'Gold Digger' more reliant on a fast riff than a blistering solo, this is modern retro trad metal at its best.

In 'Que Es La Vida' there's more than a nod towards Dio era Sabbath. But as a starting point it's a good a place as any.

Both albums are more than worth checking out; Tony Martin at his best.
