GEN ‘Rite Of Refusal’ (Meltdown 2003)

Gen - Right Of Refusal A new offering from Christian nu-metallers Gen who won a Battle of the Bands competition then promptly took themselves off to Syracuse to record their debut album, produced by Tim Bushong. This is tasty. Hard rocking, sometimes rapping, and could well give POD Satellite a run for their dollars. The opener has a hint of 'Voodoo Chile' about it with a piledriving riff whilst 'Dead To The World' has a memorable chorus. Elsewhere 'My Jesus' and 'Shamed' show that Gen can slow the pace too and are then closer perhaps to Stain'd and Three Doors Down. All credit to vocalist Jon Griffiths.

There is a New York sheen attached to this CD, and if you're a fan of the nu-metal genre check it out, what's more these lads are British!
