EDGE OF FOREVER ‘Let the Demon Rock & Roll’ MTM (2005)

This is an interesting mish-mash of styles ranging from Journey on the huge ballad found in track 6, not surprisingly, to Raging Force style anthemics (on the track 'Edge of Forever' especially). with a bit of Dio thrown in for good measure.

Considering the title of the album it is not the slightest bit shocking that there are wisps of Dio creeping into this set. It is clear they really want to be Journey. If you have heard anything of their previous outing; give them another chance with this set of tracks. I was far more impressed with this than their previous set.

It is actually rather good despite its obvious influences-on-sleeve vibe. It is not shock that drummer, Francesco Jovino, has been tapped by Udo to tour with him. He, like the rest of the band, is rather good at what they do and the tightness of the band is apparent.

Overall, not an essential album by any means, but a rather good release from a sometimes patchy label. Great to see this sort of anthemic rock coming from Italians.

***½
