AUDIOVISION 'The Calling' Metal Heaven (2005)

Audiovision

A straight metal album, with vocalist Christian Rivel releasing this in parallel with the Divine Fire set. Crunchy vocals and even crunchier crunchier guitars, opener “The Calling” features some great arrangements on the backing vocals.

“The King Is Alive” is another great metal track, the music is very guitar led; the keyboards playing intricate chords rather than solos.

Producer / guitarist Lars Chriss is from Lion’s Share, and Thomas Broman recently played with Glenn Hughes. Guests also include Tony Franklin (Blue Murder), Bruce Kulick, Mic Michaeli (Europe) and Jeff Scott Soto.

Occasional progressive moments don’t detract from the metal madness. Solid.

“Evil Or Divine” – couldn’t have put it better myself.

**½
