Ten Questions with...

TONY HARNELL (Westworld,TNT)

Tony Harnell is the vocalist with Westworld, who have just released the superb 'Cyberdreams' - a certifiable classic slice of melodic rock! He also fronts Norwegian rockers TNT.

1. What are you currently up to?

Writing and recording new TNT music and promoting Westworld's new album Cyberdreams.

2. What has been the highlight(s) and lowpoint(s) of your career to date?

Highlight would have to be our first tour of Japan, playing the Marquee in London, winning the Norwegian Grammy Award.

3. Who have been your biggest influences on your career?

Not my voice but my career?? Hmm, unfortunately I didn't have enough positive role models during my career and I didn't listen to the ones who were positive early on.

4. Westworld - the new CD 'Cyberdreams' is out very soon. How does this differ from your previous albums? What are your personal highlights on this album?

Uh I think it's out now. Have you heard it or received it yet?? I think it's more focused and better songwriting, plus Bruno did a great job producing and engineering. I like a lot of songs on this one for different reasons.

5. How did Westworld come together? You have some 'name' musicians, youself along with Riot's Mark Reale, John O'Reilly who has drummed with Rainbow & Joe Lynn Turner and Danger Danger's Bruno Ravel. Was it easy for each band member to focus on Westworld, as well as staying loyal to their other bands?

We were formed in 1998 through Paul Orofino. Then it became "our" band. Sometimes it's hard to give it the attention it deserves with the other bands we're in, but we manage.

6.TNT - there is a new CD due early next year (great news!). What direction will this take musically? Any tour plans firmed up as yet? What has been the highlight (so far!) with TNT?

Don't know about early next year, we'll see. It's going well though. We're just trying to make an honest cd and do our best. It's hard to say at this early stage what the direction is exactly. Obviously we want to please the fans while still pleasing ourselves. That can be quite difficult sometimes. Planning some touring next summer in Europe!!

7. Is there anything else you want to achieve in the music business? Who would you have liked to and/or would like to work with?

Much, much more. I haven't achieved nearly enough yet. Solo career and more success with my two bands. I'd like to work with John Sykes or Brian May.

8. Outside of business, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Eating, sleeping, indoor sports!!

9. You were also involved in Moring Wood. Please tell us a little about this album and again how there was such a top class line-up of talent on the album. Could there be a follow-up at some stage in the future?

It was a really fun project and I am hoping for a follow up at some point.

10. Message for your fans...

I look forward to touring Europe again, thanks for the years of support and I'll see you soon!!
