Ten Questions with...

SCOTT ROCKENFIELD

Legendary drummer with Queensryche, who took the metal world by storm with 'Operation Mindchrime' and 'Empire'. Now also a solo artist as well plus another band Salve to the System - all this and he still has time to answer his e-mails!

1. What are you currently up to?

I am currently rehearsing with my other band "Slave To The System". Our debut record was released independantly and we are now in the process of signing a major recording deal. The band consists of Damon Johnson and Roman Glick from Brother Cane, Scotty Heard from Sweatty Nipples, and Kelly Gray and myself from Queensryche. Visit www.SlavetotheSystem.net for further details...

2. Who were your influences?

I suppose my biggest influence has always just been life itself.

3. If you could create a fantasy band line-up - who would be in it and why?

My biggest passion is to compose music for film, so I suppose the "fantasy" band would be me, me ,me ,me!!! ...laughs...

4. You have a new solo project coming out soon. Have you enjoyed the freedom of being away from a band environment? Any plans to tour with this album?

Yes, my newest solo record is titled "The 'X' Chapters", and is currently available at www. Rockenfield Music - Film, Television and Multi-Media Music Scoring .com...I very much enjoy composing music by myself. I get to do what I want without having to compromise with anyone...

5. What are Queensryche up to at the moment? Have you any unfulfilled ambitions as a band? What direction would you see any new material taking?

QR is currently in the studio writing and recording our next release...

6. How easy is it to get radio airplay? What countries have the strongest fanbase for you? Any countries that you would love to play and why?

We have always had a very nice following at radio. It is never easy to get your songs played at radio, but the best thing that any artist can do, is to be true to what you are. Do not try and be something and try to get on radio, because it will never happen....We are loved in all of the countries!!! ..haha...

7. What has been the highlight(s) and lowpoint(s) of your career so far?

One of my biggest highlights was being Nominated for Grammy Award in 1998, for composing trhe music to a computer animated Long Form Music Video titled "Televoid".

8. Who would you like to work with in the future - either touring or recording?

I would love to work with composer Danny Elfman...

9. What was the last thing you read?

My mail..!!

10. Message for your fans...

Thank you all so much for the many years of your support, and if you find the time please check out my newest solo record at www.Rockenfield Music - Film, Television and Multi-Media Music Scoring.com and let me know what you all think!!! PEACE....Scott Rockenfield.
