Ten Questions with...

PETE WAY

Pete Way, founder member of UFO who also formed Waysted in the mid- 80's and lately has appeared with fellow UFO mainman Phil Mogg in Mogg/Way plus his own solo work. Big thanks to Battttttty for getting the questions over to Pete.

1. What are you currently up to?

Now I am planning to tour the west coast area and releasing the live concert cd from Cleveland.

2. Who have been your main musical influences and why?

Too many people. Obviously bands like Led Zepplin.

3. Will Michael Schenker ever last a full tour ?! How hard is the working relationship in the band and do you regard this as the 'definitive' UFO line-up?

I'm never sure with Michael. Michael has the best intentions and it is not difficult to work with Michael or Phil for myself. I keep my fingers crossed. I would like to tour.

4. Which UFO song(s) and/or album(s) would you say sum up what UFO is all about? Do you enjoy the freedom of the Mogg/Way albums as a way to try songs outside of the expected UFO style?

The Strangers in the Night album and we had some magical moments with Paul Chapman.

5. What has been the highlight(s) and lowpoints(s) of your career to date?

The highpoints are being successful with UFO. The low points are not touring.

6. Going back to your days in Waysted - how do you view in hindsight what the band achieved? The Danny Vaughn era is highly regarded by many rock fans (I personally love the songs 'Black and Blue' & 'Walls Fall Down'). Are there any unreleased Waysted songs around?

I think we did very well and I had underestimated it. People still ask me about Waysted. I am going to include songs of Waysted during my west coast tour. I think there are unreleased covers. Actually Paul Chapman and I are looking at that.

7. Are there any new bands around who give you hope for the future? What bands/music do you like listening to?

A lot of new bands sound the same to me. I like listening to the Cult, Sisters of Mercy, and Buckcherry.

8. Who would you like to work with in the future?

It's difficult to say. There are so many people. My three piece band is what I'm enjoying at the moment. I'm in the mood for rock 'n roll.

9. What was the last thing you read?

Kurt Cobain diary and the Aston Villa website three times a day.

10. Message for your fans...

Come and see us play and enjoy it.
